Now why didn't I find this topic sooner?
Here are a few of my buddy & stable mates: ![]() ![]() ![]() All a guy really needs: ![]() ![]() Would anyone happen to know what the best all-road tires for a 900 are today? I'm looking for something to go in the dirt with occasionally without loosing to much (if any) performance on the tarmac. |

Haha, I didn't expect a reply to be honest, seeing how long it had been before you gotten a reply.
Green isn't really my color personally, but it looks awesome nevertheless. Very unique job What were the original colors and what colors did you put on the tail and on the fairing around the windscreen? I like your engine crash bars too btw, what make or those? I don't have any new stuff to share just yet, but since this is a photo thread... Fully packed, somewhere near a border crossing from Italy to Austria I believe:

The engine bars are Givi (tested em out in Spain in May....Altercation with a tied up horse and it's rope)
Originally it was a Mica blue bike.....After the altercation it became a Green/Blue one due to the fact that when I went to the store to buy some blue mica I noticed the colour testers on the wall with all manner of iridescent stuff... I really like this green I painted the front fairing in burnt orange candy and black cherry.......it's going to change to black/blue flip over the next few weeks. The Givi engine bars make for a nice footrest for long journeys :) A pic of me with the bike in southern France.....I've just eaten a mystery pastie (I have no idea what it was) however it gave me food poisoning which lasted 9 days!

Oh well, at least you got to go to Spain in May, haha. I'll look in to those Givi bars then, they look a lot better then anything I've seen so far.
Nice disks too btw, I didn't notice those before So you're taking off all the orange? I kinda like it to be honest :) Sorry about that food poisoning though. 9 days is quit a stretch, especially when you're off on a road trip! ps: perhaps we should continue this in the regular TDM thread so I don't have to keep posting all these old pictures: ![]() I still wonder what that guy was thinking there. I bet he's jelly.. |

Old Dam
![]() ![]() This is the old dam that my town used for a water source until 1934. The old reservoir is now drained and the whole site looks like a science fiction movie set. The old water works, large cast iron pipes, pump mounts and holding tanks are in various stages of decline. There are collapsed roofs, trees growing out of concrete and masonry walls.

Another tyre qestion!!
Hi
Looking for dual sport tyres for TDM 900. Found 2 alternatives: Avon Distanzia + Pirelli Scorpion MT90A/T. In both cases rear tyres perfect fit but fronts (as always) come in either 120/80/18 or 110/80/18 - origional 120/70/18. Any experiences please: Will both or either size fit and which size is best?? Any experiences of either tyre? Trails will be in the dry (unless caught out )Many thanks for any info

I got the Pirelli on the front of me 8 fiddly & love it. 110-80-/18. It's not hard core but does increase your safety margins on gravel. Performs well on the road wet & dry, exceeded my expectations in the wet massively. I think the smaller block pattern, high silica & soft compound give a bit more aggressive tread edge to help in the gravel (block pattern) & the wet grip on tar seal (silica).
It is quite a flat profile so don't try & get your pegs down unless your comfortable with front wheel drifts & have the reactions of a cobra. Having said that it's not too far away from a 100% road tire. I posted the photos up the page, give you a wee idea of our gravel roads. |
