Funny you should chime in, I thought of you when having been everywhere on a Viffer was mentioned.

COTU South, Group Gather May 13-15

I'm spreading the word about a VFR ride in Wytheville, VA May 13-15.
Details are posted up at VFRD and VFRWorld, here's the VFRD link:

http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/i...wytheville-va/

If you're not on either of those forums, you can let me know here if you think you'll be coming.

Note, you don't have to be on a VFR, we're not fussy.

Cheers,
Greg

On no, VFR riders are the most forgiving riders of all. We have lots of pity for those not fortunate enough to be riding the perfect motorcycle.

Nah, it may have been a VFR rider event, but all riders were always welcome.

Here's a pic from the last COTU ride I attended in '04. Our Group had a Futura, an SV1000S, and a couple of other non VFR's.

Here's our buddy Pru, posing with a couple of locals somewhere in WV.

West Virginia has some really nice backroads.

It started to rain pretty good later that day so here we are throwing on our rain gear at Fayette Landing.

After a nice long day's ride, we regroup back at the local restaurant for some grub and a few brews before all heading home the next day.

But not before we crash someone's party at the local Inn.

Bringing back some memories, Greg?

That represents what these rides are about, friends and strangers alike, getting together for a weekend of great riding, and socializing.... making memories.

Greg, the date is noted and right now I dont think I can make it but I'll certainly work on it.

Some memories are better repressed than others
Hope you can make it, there are a lot of dirt roads in the area as well
(I can point you to some likely areas, but wouldn't want to try to lay out a route).

New ADV member and new VFR acolyte here.

Bought the bloody thing just before Christmas and i've been jumping up and down pulling my hair out ever since just waiting for the snow to leave.

That's Canadian winter for you.

Mine is a 2000 model (5th gen), in dark green.

Which will probably help me more than the go fast colors with the local constabulary.

Cheers,
Sam

Very nice! Welcome.

My VFR is in a million pieces right now.

No I didn't crash, but I did decide to finally tear into to check the valves. It's a 95 so no Vtec stuff.

First scheduled check is at 16K. I've been putting it off and it now has 20K on it. Took me 6 hours yesterday and I'm only finally ready to put the thing back together....there are just so many damn parts you have to remove to get the access you need to get the valve covers out and back in again.

Had to remove every piece of plastic as well as the tank and the radiator (UGH).

FWIW all 16 valves were in spec! 14 of 16 were dead-nuts-on and the other two (both intakes on #2) were a half-a-thou tight which is within the tolerance specified by the Honda manual.

I replaced the valve cover gaskets with new ones from Ron Ayers...god what a PITA that was. It's pretty dificult to get the little "half round" sections of the gasket seated properly and I'm still worried it's not in there right.

6 hours is a pretty good time for the first time doing it. It gets much faster w/ repetition.

This winter I checked the clearances on a friend's VTEC. The 4th gen is so much easier to work on. At least the gas tank has a petcock.

Ummm, I've been checking the valves on my '96 almost annually, and I've never replaced those gaskets, nor have I used any sealant on them, and they've stayed leak free.
