Broken Ram Cradle - GPSMAP76CSX
One of the tabs broke off the cradle of my ram mount the other day, I've got an email in to Ram-Mounts for their lifetime-warranty and hope to get it replaced since it's not that old.
![]() ![]() Does anyone have the Touratech mount for this model Garmin and can comment on it? @ $115 its 10x the price Aside from the TT or replacement Ram cradle, my other option is to try repairing or fabricating a new piece for the ram.

Yeah, I was putting it in at the time.
I do remove/replace the unit when I'm off the bike or out of the vehicle, but I expected it to be more durable. You've had yours for 4yrs? I would have been happy to get 4yrs out mine, it's maybe 1.5 yrs I've had it now.

I've often thought about the stress that must be put on those arms, and I really try to only expand them as far as necessary to fit the unit.
I hope they honor their warranty, but if not a new cradle is only 12$. For 120$ the touratech is top notch, I just got one for my 478, but for the 76C that's almost half the price of the unit.

Yeah hopefully they honor the warranty, I like their mounting systems, its too bad this one failed. Regardless @$12 I could just as easily get another, and plan to replace it with something else down the line. Maybe the TT if I can justify the price. I appreciate your input Gramps, thanks for that :)

I've never read about anyone using the ram mount warranty, but I just checked it out on their web site, and I'd bet they replace it for you. Keep us up to date, I'm sure there are more than a few people around here who'd be interested in hearing how RAM handles their warranties.

I broke my RAM mount for my etrex just like that. For ten bucks, I wasn't worried about it, I bought another one.

The warranty is hardly worth the paper it is written on. It would have cost me more to ship the broken mount back than to buy a new one...and I am sure RAM knows that. They should allow you to exchange it at a local RAM dealer.

But by the time I pay for that "small shipping charge", I might as well buy one. Better still, they should make them out of Lexan. That way they won't break. If the replacement one I bought breaks again, I'll consider designing and making one that is far superior...as I do with so much of the accessories I've installed on my motorcycle.

I leave mine in the mount, and remove the mount when I'm leaving the bike. Quicker and saves wear and tear. |

They may not have charged me because the cradle was brand-new. In any case, I'd be more than happy to pay a shipping charge, as it lets them replace the product and know there is a problem.
