Chang Jiang Tires

Well, I've been noodling around town on my Chang for a couple of months, and today I went for a 200 mile ride with a friend in the side car.

About 10 miles before arriving home, I heard a loud squeal and the rear end got really loose. Yep, I had a blowout.

Pulled over and changed out with the spare. What really had me puzzled, was how the tire went flat. I had worn (scrubbed) the tire down to the cords, and right into the tube. It appeared to be near new before leaving. The chair tire took a pretty good beating too. The front tire still looks good.

OK, It has the Chinese block tread tires on it.

The question is: did the tires wear out fast because they are REALLY REALLY cheap? The rig doesn't realy pull too hard in either direction.

What are my choices for replacing the tires? I would like the block tread pattern, but not at the expense of having to replace them every 200 miles. Is there anybody else that makes quality block tread tires? IF not, what else could I run? Regular dirtbike tires? Dual purpose tires? Would like something long wearing if possible.

Bingo.

I bet you have Double Camel Brand. They seem to be the cheap tyre of the moment for the Chinese market. They are crap. The tyres I have on mine, Zhanqiao, are about 8,000 Km's old and the rear is still just OK.

I think you can still get Blocks in 19 inch from Avon.......and perhaps something from JC Whitney.

Lock up the Double Camels and you can actually see them turn to dust.

Chang Jiang tires

Many shops in the states carry Cheng Shin tires. I put 110.90X19 on my rigs and although they are not block tye tires, they seemed to wear pretty well and handled well too.

Thanks for the confirmation, and suggestions.

I think I'll not go the block tread, but more a dual purpose tire.

The blocks tread was horrible in the mud, anyway...
