Its getting close. Once the rear fender is mounted all that is left is
-throttle cable -clutch cable -front brake cable -oil lines -fuel lines -make a wireing harness -finish the exhaust. -new valve cover and bolts for the headlight (this thur) Then fire it up. Then strip it all down, sandblast it, powdercoat it, and re-assemble Oh and I still need to send my Akront wheels out to get drilled and build the wheels with new stainless spokes. But that might wait for another day. I think I want a running bike before I worry about the wheels. And I think the forks will need a little more TLC before Im done. They work and go up and down. But arnt quite right. For one they leak. Wrong seal on the bottom drain bolt. Gotta get some new ones ordered. I lowered the forks about 2-1/2" and that put a lot of preload on the springs. THey are a tad stiff. Not to mention that the springs are pitted and rusty. Might have to get some new springs as I imagine mine are sacked out. |

there's a Triumph build in here if you're interested http://www.markvanderkwaak.com/ i couldn't link the actual build because it's embedded in the main site. it's not hard to find. he's got some renderings of the bike and the actual build going on. he'd be interested in your project too. send him some pics when you'r done. That is going to be a Stylin little bobber.
Really enjoy following your progress. I was one of the "don't cut it" guys, but like somebody said "it's your bike". And it looks so sweet chopped. or bobbed.

I bought a '70 Lightning back in '71 and I remember it as pretty dang reliable for the day, believe it or not. |

Got fuel lines ran. Still need some clamps. They are on the way
![]() Got the exhaust finished. Im pretty stoked with these. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That marks the end of the fabrication. No more welding needs to be done. Its finished. Just needs to oil lines, control cables, wire it and see if it will run then tear it all down, sandblast it and re-assemble. Plus a lot of other things I know I have forgot ![]()
