Blackfoot Motosports (no R) is your best option, not the best prices around, but definitely the best selection. Its fairly central - google maps is your friend. For a big city Calgary doesnt have any mega stores like the US, just a number of smaller shops (aside form Blackfoot).

+1, they will usually give you 15-20% off, just for asking. Their selection is just as good as Blackfoot and they are more helpful. They don't carry the highend stuff like Blackfoot (RevIt, BMW, Klim), though.

Saturday was looking good for me up until yesterday. Good weather is sometimes for landscaping around my house and it has reared it's ugly head on the top of my to do list. I rode into work today - fricken cold and heated vest wire snapped off at battery so it wasn't working. But every freezing second was worth it! Ride home today should be sweet.

Saturday is good. I have a Honda XR650L but have only had it for one summer so would like to avoid any really bad terrain.

I was thinking about doing the TransAlta road (see a few posts back), then back though Water Valley or Sundre, time permitting. Nothing too technical.

I have to do a couple of errands in the morning. If anyone is interested, I figure to be at Tim's on Hwy 22 in Cochrane at 11am. Send me a PM so I'll know if anyone is coming along. I'll check back here in the morning.

+2, GW is the best place in the city to get gear, best prices and pretty good selection.

Most of the road is good (sometimes rough) gravel, with one short (possibly) greasy section that is doable.Maybe Ryder Patrol can shed some light on this.

Was out and about on the Transalta road last night. The hills are almost completely dry and traffic was light. I did see quite a large moose out there though. Have fun. Anyone interested in planning a trip to limestone mountain mid-June ?

Made it out by Waiprous today with flossandfly and canoe head. Great guys. Lemme come along on their ride today. Both on 650's and me on the 990. Had a blast and got to do a bunch of river crossings and dodge huge rocks all day.

I told FlossandFly that it wouldnt be difficult! LOL. I wasn't expecting 5 or 6 water crossings!

I had a blast, guys; let's ride again, sometime soon.

A few things I learned today

- Crossfires are not waterproof and they squeek when wet! At least they don't look brand new anymore.
- My bike stalls when the sidestand switch is submerged - guess that puppy is coming out.
- My Klim gear crashes good!
- I need to move ahead with putting the RMZ forks on my DR.

Here are my photos:

Yeah, had to go back through said water crossings to get back too so 5 or 6 times 2! Haha. Great day! Definitely do it again. Lots to explore out there.

Mothers day commitments plus wife's bday on Tuesday means no go tomorrow. Another time though. Always good to meet more like minded dudes.
