Anybody interested in a Chasing Snow ride this weekend?

Maybe start in Dutch Creek, bust arse (possibly literally) over North Fork to Elkford for some delicious food, then either back over the mountains (and snow) on Race Horse to the trucks through Dutch Creek, or make an overnighter at Fernie to ride the Flathead and areas back to the staging area?

No idea of snow conditions. We'd have to get some good local info before attempting. Worst case we rip up Dutch Creek which is pretty fun actually. Lots of flowing quad trails for our bikes that have a few extra lbs.

Need to guage interest sooner rather then later to prep bike and find a dog sitter.

Of course, riders must be prepared for EVERYTHING. This time of year you don't F*** with mother nature especially at 7000 ft.

Sixes inches snow on forestry last monday night and up to a foot at the end of dutch creek road on monday night as well. That was a week ago.

Busty your butts is right up and over north fork in snow. Avatar picture is about two hundred yards from BC border. A buddy is hunting up there today will phone him tonight.

A little late in the season for the passes, at least with a K-60 rear tire. I already tried it in snow and leaves and mud on Sunday. Not a good mix for traction. I was on relatively level ground and wasn't sure I would get out of the trail I was on. As much as I enjoy adventure, and a challenge, I'll wait for Dutch creek and that area until spring now. I can get in enough trouble out at McLean until the snow buries us.

I'd appreciate if you could keep us informed. Tomorrow is another questions mark but it should be melting at the same time with a decent forecast.

6" of snow isn't an issue. 1 ft makes it difficult.

Spring riding over passes often waits till July or even august for snow to melt, avy debi to be removed, etc. Figure if conditions allow some others would be interested in making the run. I didn't get a good dual sport ride in this year. (local anyways)

If the 1ft of fresh in this location becomes common I'm going to start working on my sled and waxing my board!

I hope the Fernie area gets pounded this year! Golden and area has gotten too busy.

Just talked to my friend. He goes out and feeds the horses at blue brahma then hunts on the way back.
Rain knocked down snow to almost nothing but started snowing lightly last night. About two inches of fluff on ground sunday night when he left.
He does not go everyday but alternates. He says some light snow is forcast for the area pretty much everyday.
Will post up again in a couple days.

Here I'm wondering about snow and my buddies JUST crossed over the Mexican border 5 minutes ago. =( Wish I could have went with them this go-around. I miss Mexico.

Rode to work downtown this morning at 6AM. Does that count as an adventure? Chilly. Heated grips are nice and the calf robe bridge wasn't as icy as the radio said despite the 20 car pile up last night!

I'd say so. I may take mine tomorrow morning, since I can wash off the salt (they are laying down) when I get to work.

The snow isn't the issues, the ice and other calgary drivers are!

Thinking of swapping out bike trip this weekend with another poser "day" coffee meet-up if anybody is interested.

No real plans other then some work on my truck. Wouldn't mind getting a coffee to enjoy a nice fall day.

I'd also entertain some trail riding if it reports show snow is reasonable out there.

Way too icy on the side streets in foothills industrial this morning and since we didn't get the sun to melt off the stuff today (along with the wind) I probably won't ride in the morning either. If I didn't have to share the roads I would probably risk it. I am just not keen on making the noon hour news......

Depending on wether the forecast and reality are in alignment this weekend, I will be out riding. If it is too snowy or cold out west I'll just go search out a nice field of dirt (like near the new south hospital) and practice my skills in soft dirt. I would be up for a coffee in the afternoon someplace. I know a few in the southeast, but am not fussy.

Today he is in Turner valley and he says Calgary got way more snow then there.

Man, I really wish Dutch Creek was closer....

Being that weather is iffy I might bail on this ride suggestion too. Sucks, because I think this is the last weekend to do it.

Might just do some trail riding at Mclean or Wiaprous. Fall riding is kick ass around here before the ground freezes. Might as well take that in!

Any interested parties?

(Just remembered I still haven't changed my rear tire, haha. Oh well, it's not an issue. Kinda like worn rear tires)

I would like to get out for a ride. My bike is at Honda getting the clutch looked at. (a job beyond my current mechanical skills). I hope to get it back soon. I thought our trip to pretty rock was the last trip for that tire.

Previous sentence sounds kind of brokeback mountain I know... not that there's anything wrong with that (said in sqeuaky Seinfeld voice)
