Thanks guys!!
Ok, just got back from Matt's house. He reached another level today and the front and rear fenders that he painted a week ago don't look anything like the tank and side panels that he shot today. He wants to do the fenders over again. We're not going crazy with perfection, but he's getting good really fast. I talked him out of the rear fender so I can finish up the subframe tomorrow. I'm happy with this look, but the other stuff is over the top in the realistic flame arena and that's what he's going for. ![]() I better get to ordering a black seat cover, the Honda red will never work. |

I've made a little bit of progress. My knee was giving me trouble last week, so I took a week off...gotta pay the bills by being able to work.
I worked on the filler for the triangles a little during the week. A bunch of parts came in during the week. What's with stuff being much smaller than what it looks like in pictures? The blinkers and tailight are tiny...the plate is bigger than the Acerbis tail section...oh well, looks cool as heck. Matt brought over all of the painted stuff to try on the bike. ![]() ![]() ![]() He hates all of it and took everything back to do again. He wants all of it to look like this: ![]() He has decided that he gets progressively better every day and needs to paint all of the parts on one day to get things to match. I've done a ton of research on how to get the idler sprocket/jack shaft to work. Basically I need to switch the Bandit CS sprocket over to a 520 which is common, then I have to go to a 50-2 industrial chain idler..machined down to 1/4" tooth width to a 520 sprocket on the wheel. I've found that the go-kart guys just hand grind the 50 sprocket to fit the 520 chain because the pitch is right for both 520/530 chain, I'm not sure a ground sprocket will work for my HP numbers without heat treating..on the plus side industrial sprockets are pretty cheap. Big work day tomorrow. |

![]() Sweet looking airbox cover. And it doesn't look like you're going to break that subframe/shock tower. |

I added 8 inches to the kickstand:
![]() ![]() Made some front blinker mounts: ![]() I plated the right side and got my tube supports in for the grafted frame: ![]() Going to have to clearance the frame for the pipe: ![]() I adjusted the subframe and got the seat centered better. Tried the pipe on to see how it looks. ![]() I've got the seat height down to 37" with me on it. I tried to go just a tick short on the kickstand to make it easier to get on the thing. I need to do some clean up as the mess is driving me crazy. Then I'll get back to plating and clearancing. |

Got the shop cleaned up, it was getting out of control.
I tried the pegs on. It's still a little bit sport bike, but I'm going to deal with it for now. I want this thing on the road, then I can switch to weekend projects like a skid plate, better foot pegs, rear rack to carry a tool bag...stuff like that.

5 inches longer than a CR500 or TE610 and 10 inches longer than the Bandit was. It was the shortest I could make it. The front is raked out a little because I don't have bearings in the steering stem. Not yet Old Dog, I've got a bunch of work left to do in the grafted frame area to prep for getting an idler sprocket mounted. I've got the chains and sprockets figured out, need to figure the bearings out next. I'm probably still a month of working on it here and there before it's ready to ride. |
