Partial thread-jack: Your cherry looking Willy caught my eye. Brought back fond memories of my own '59 flat fender wagon. The flathead-6 died so I dropped a tuned 283 in 'er - made for a very sweet backroad rig. SO sorry I sold it!

Watchin' for DS Bandit's 1st ride.
Thanks!! The wagon just happens to be a '59. It has a '67 365hp 327. I've got a few things to tidy up on it and it'll be back on the road. I've agonized over selling it as I'd like to change things up in my life in the future. My daughter has expressed interest in having it, so I might go that direction.

I think it was the weekend you were setting up in the barn.

I had a guy ping me on the klr forum about adjusting his valves so he could head for Alaska sooner rather than later. Matt was coming already and I finally forced Ben to take a look at the swingarm...he's been putting it off as long as I've known him.

Or was that the weekend you went for a loop? I know there was a reason. I lose track of time.

I'm not really sure how to measure for lock to lock? The limiting factor on turning radius is the oil cooler. The lower triple hits the oil cooler before I get to the steering stops. I was going to try it first, then decide if I need to drop the cooler down a bit or fatten up the stops a little.

Can I advise against that? If you're going to actually ride any trails, there are low-speed circumstances where terrain could whip your bars and crunch your cooler, which would be a real pain in the ass.

Yeah, by try it out I mean go ride some easy gravel roads trying u-turns and turning around to see what needs to be done. One of two things will happen..move the cooler or limit the lock to lock.

Thanks!!

I've got another trip this weekend. Then a TW200 to put together..then I'll be back on the Bandit with a mid-July finished ready to ride goal.

Okay, I have to admit that when I first saw you throw that subframe on there, I about puked, and I couldn't figure out what you would do to save it. It's really starting to come together now though.

PLEASE DON'T LET THE PROJECT DIE, I WANNA SEE A VIDEO OF YOU RIDING THIS THING SOON!

Working on my own build project in another beast thread, which hasn't really gotten off the ground yet (literally). This stuff is interesting.

larryboy just left on a ride.

When I was out there a few weeks ago, he was talking about the next phase. He's got some fab issues that he's working through, but he's not giving up. The beast will live

As soon as ya finish the DirtBandit Rob, I've got an Xj650 shaftie that needs a little DS help.
