Shed for my hack
So I have to move. And chances are the home I'll be in will not have a garage. So my alternative is some kind of shed.
So, hack riders, has anyone bought or aquired a suitable shed/storage building for their Ural. I'd like something small- basically as small as is going to work, as lot space for most houses I am looking at is small. The borough I am in is also a stickler for adding structures w/o a permit, so I'd like to keep it 'under the radar' and around a grand??? Size specs are: 101.6 x 66.9 x 43.3 inches for my patrol (L xW x H) Obviously sticking to a national seller (Home Depot/Lowes etc.) would be key. Thanks!! |

Sportsmans Guide has tent like structures for under $200.
For under $1k you should be able to build a shed, an 8x8 would just fit.

We have big garden sheds out here that wouldbe suitable for a rig.
I had one that was 10' X 8' with double doors.

contact some one in the area that sells those potable car ports --the ones made from form bent exhaust tubing and have them completely enclose it for ya --"Coast to Coast" is the manufacturer in the south --when finished they make great little garages and come in various sizes and you can also Buy the building an erect it yourself

I had to do something like that once. I put down 4 pallets, built a big frame from 2x4's (with bracing so it wouldn't flex), and stretched some clothes line over the frame to keep the tarp from sagging too much), and a tarp over it all. I just leaned the frame against the side of the house for a lean-to.
It kept most weather out, but let it breathe- just a tarp alone will kill a bike as fast as just leaving it out because of condensation underneath. cheep cheep cheep- and effective.

Helped a friend build a shed once where he could not get a permit due to wetlands regulations. Well we built the thing anyhow and put a mobile home axle under it and a tongue on it..."It ain't a shed it's a trailer" . A year or so later another inspector came out and said that the trailer would require a liscense on it. ' It ain't a trailer it is a shed that was hauled in here". He said 'oh sorry' and went away. My friedn moved before the two inspectors got together. Last tiem I was by the place the shed was still there though.
