That half-assed front suspension in the GT is the dealbreaker for me.

I want a Manta.

Back in '80 I had this 1968 Cougar XR7 with a freshly built 302 that ran pretty decent. Followed a friend on some back roads into Spokane, he was driving the car pictured above. When we took off I was half giggling to my girlfriend about that little shitter he was driving. I, the Big Stud, had American Muscle. And off we drove to the twisties, my friend in the lead.

Took everything I had to keep up with that bastard.

I was really hoping for some van murals from this thread. Disappointed.

That was how I got into the GT! The Manta was my first car!

I still loved the GT better, and the cross leaf suspension was good if properly tuned. Hell, Corvette used it!

I didn't say that!

Seriously, it worked great on the SCCA parking lot races, and the car always felt planted at speeds up to, and over 120mph.

I had an early 80's Econoline in High School. Sky blue, windowless sides. It was called either the "Sears Van" or the "Rapist Van" depending on who was doing the talking.

Everyone wanted it, though.

Yes, from '84 on. Don't forget the AC Ace and of course its progeny.
