Yep. 225 slant six. Been in the family since new but no longer in use. Does need a new clutch and I'll check the A arms. Thanks for the tip!

no problem. that 225 will outlast the bodyon that van. after you put a clutch in it, you should have to do anything to ther than put gas in it for a hundred thousand miles or so.....well, except maybe change the oil...

I think you can go almost 300k without changing the oil on the 225...just add a little now and then.

And when it does finally throw a rod it'll still keep on running even with a giant hole in the side of the block.

Baja in the Shaggin Wagon

Here's another goody

It's a story about this surfer dude who takes a 70's Shaggin Wagon / Van to Baja. He's a really good writer and adventurer, however sans the moto. Good pics and road advice for our Baja riders.

http://www.freedomrun.net/Bajapage.html

You've got to have one of these if you have a 70's era van..http://www.bumperart.com/ProductDeta...productID=8878
Oh. And while there, check out the stickers to the right

I may have been tempted if he wasn't asking too damn much money.
I got one of those except with dual wheels. 36k actual miles. The interior is pretty well gone. I was going to use the engine in my Callenger but I got a 440 MAgnum for that instead. So this old thing just collects dust.

*edit, 68k miles. my mistake.

Some people put "For Sale " signs on their motor homes (aka motor homeless) with exuberant prices on them so they can squat in parking lots. That way the van looks like its being parked to sell not being lived in. DAMHIK

I lived in a $10,000 primer black 1977 Ford 1/2 ton with camper shell for years.

Spotted this sweet Van at breakfast this morning...

The sweet part was the paint- woodgrain flames.

And the doors on BOTH sides.

Q for the Van guys:

I've been looking at getting a hauler / camper van, and not sure what motor to get. The most I'd pull is 2500lbs, tops.

What motor do I want? (Guessing 350 or 351, but open to suggestion) Trying to find the right mix of ability and gas mileage.

Sorry for the threadjack, never thought I'd find stuff about vans on this site!

Bump for the shaggin' wagons!
