I was hitting that site every day before I found my 4x ambulance on ebay.
Seems like a lot more listings now.

I had my van up there when I was selling it, but didn't get any responders.
A lot of the ones there start out with pretty high prices and as you can see, they all lower it and still can't sell them. 4x4 vans, especially ones that have been fixed up nice like mine, are hard to sell for anywhere near what you've put into it. That makes it tough, I lost about $8k on mine, but it was fun while I had it.
Once I put it on craigslist, the e-mails poured in. I sold it in a few weeks to a guy from California.

Mine is in gallery 5.

Thunder's Garage has been hopping with new vans for sale in this economic downturn.. seems folks are trying to get rid of toys... great time to buy though... Mr. Hayduke.

For a long time I lusted after a Chinook Baja. No way could I ever afford one and after seeing a few decided it wasn't for me anyway.

Used to see a guy show up to rides with an older Chinook.
Guess they have been making them for a while.

Decent 4x RV for living, but not to versatile for hauling stuff.
He had a rear 2 bike rack for it, but it was hassle cause it blocked the rear door.

So that's what it was. There was one in the parking lot here at work last week. Had some letting on the side about some Alcan rally I think. Different paint, and a few other changes, but that's basically what it was. Looked like it would be cool to full-time in for a while. Yeah, WAY out of my price range.

I'm in a rock and a hard place. I keep seeing a lot of neat looking older vans, but I have nowhere to work on anything, and everything older I've looked at needs work. Even if it's just ripping out the flooring (mildew), leaks in the roof, etc. The newer stuff is too expensive.

I think I'm going to end up with a newish base van, and just hope I can do things to it over time. Until then, pad, sleeping bag and camp stove are probably it. Locker on the rear till I can get 4x4, and hopefully I won't go nuts till I can get a taller roof on it.

Nice to look at stuff and dream though.

Yeah, they made them for awhile. Don't now, because Chinook is out of business.

The reason it wouldn't work for me was that I too wanted to haul a bike on a carrier and didn't want to block the door.

I'm not sure I want a 4x4 anyway. I'd really like something that will haul bikes inside for long highway trips, that will get decent mileage, be comfortable, and I can sleep in when I get to camp. Something like Ned's van would be perfect, but not a diesel.
