I've been hunting such a van for awhile but no luck, so I turn to the van guru's for advice! What small van can I drive to work daily then load the family up and explore dirt roads of all sorts (Nothing making 4wd a must) all weekend without breaking the bank in fuel costs and initial purchase price?

I've been looking at a few,
-VW Bus (But price is insane these days..)
-Vanagon (Price is ok but hard to find and not a big fan of stock waterboxer)
-80's Toyota Van (Cool as hell but hard to find not ragged out)
-4 cylinder Safari/Astro. (Rare..)

So what's your ideas?

Eric, last time I was to the island was last spring. Is this the same guy that was located right on the hwy. in Parksville? Looking for a 3.0L as we speak.

This is exactly what I'm looking for:

Toyota previa would be at the top of my list. Choose you flavor awd or supercharged, maybe there was a year with both?
Again could be hard finding one in good shape but I have seen a few around.

Not as cool, but a friend had a Toyota sienna that was a very nice van, newer models also available awd.

Yeah that's at FiveStar Auto near Coombs, just west of Parksville. Coombs County Auto does great work on the vehicles they bring in. And that van is a gasser! Really nice looking

I don't know of anyone commercially importing them to the US. But in the Pacific Northwest guys are starting to do it AFAIK; possibly buying in Canada and importing them privately.

Took it camping for 4 days last week to start breaking it in:

Here's a good tool to search all the "Craigs Lists" for an item within a specified radius from a zip code. set the parameters (starting zip, radius, key word(s) to search, and go) You can search all the way across the US - although it takes longer the further out you search.

You may get lucky if you search Delica every month or so.

I use it all the time to search for bikes and stuff. www.searchtempest.com

What engine does it have? Curious about operating costs on the 6 cylinder full size compared to the 'stro, as my Safari won't last forever.
