If I was buying a van, I'd get the dodge/mercedes sprinter diesel.
20+ MPG and run forever.

Currently have an 07 dodge diesel and pull an enclosed trailer behind it, works fine.

I'd do some more research.....I did some last year as I was really wanting a sprinter. I thought, 20-25 mpg, diesel, high head room,etc.....I need one of those for my service vehicle. From talking to different companies that ran them, all had major and lots of minor troubles with them. One company semi-retired one of five to become a stand-in for when one of the others was in the shop...which was almost always. I depend on my van and went with a regular ford e250.

Not sure I would like to pull around a mobile fuel processing/gas station every where I go!

Especially when he already as a 50 gallon tank as well as the stock tank. I highly doubt this van has saved this kid any money yet.

Everyone around here I see running "bio" are cheaper than KLR owners.

Been going back and forth on what I want but finally made a decision, now I just have to find a nice one.
Looking for a 99-03 Ford E-350 7.3 Diesel with the Chateau package. It has everything I want, and most are owned by family's so not so abused. Missed a real nice one on Ebay while I was on the fence, but now I am not, so the search is on.

Saw this beauty at the South rim of the Grand Canyon the other day...

This thing has been all over. How cool is that.

Was a lot larger than any VW I had ever seen. No idea what it was, other than bad ass.

I looked at one for my business back in the day. Passed because that motor is so loud I was concerned that driving through a residential area would cause complaints.

Problem is a Transit Connect is too small and full-size gas vans get horrible MPG. Luckily I live in NYC so it is so noisy anyway that another diesel won't bother anyone.

ford mileage

I have a 2003 e-150 with the 4.2 liter v-6. On a 6600 mile road trip last Fall I averaged 18.67 MPG. I drive mainly secondary roads and stay at 70 on interstates. Probably half of those miles were using ethonal (sp) blends and half using the AC both which hurt mileage. Van was loaded with a half done camper conversion including paneling, insulation, double bed, water and waste tanks, sink and stove and ice box in built in cabinets, bicycle on rack on the front bumper, empty cycle carrier on the rear ( I didn't find the bike I was looking for) plus clothes food and fishing gear, at least 500 -600lbs total. I regularly get 16 in a mix of city and highway day to day.

The only time I felt a lack of power was up in the Colorado Rockies . A friend of mine who worked at a Ford dealership claims the small V-8 will do just as well driven sensibly and have more power reserve.
