Suggestions?

I'm now seriously budgeting for a sidecar rig.
I'm looking for an all-season, go reasonably "anywhere" (fireroads and the like) with someone in the hack and a full load. A long haul adventure rig and winter commuter.

I like the new Ural, but spendy (to me) for the patrol and gear-up. I thought about a KLR rig, but I kinda like the 2 wheel drive and insist on reverse. Now I've been daydreaming about a CJ with a small car diesel engine as a cheaper way to get to where I want to be. I'm blessed with some talented gear head/ machinist friends to help... so there's options there.

Anyone have a suggestion? Anyone tried this or seen it? Just keep saving for the Ural? A sidecar rig burning veg oil sounds mighty sweet to me.

I never heard of a CJ with a small car diesel engine...that sounds cool. Do they have reverse and 2WD?

Can you post pics of the CJ?

We may have spoken already? I build BMW powered Chang Jiangs and am working on putting a Winsun V Twin aircooled diesel into one of our bikes. Probably won't be ready much before mid-summer though.

Why don't you buy my Ural Tourist? It's an 06 (Bought New on 11/2007) so it's still under warranty and is a great bike. These things can go just about anywhere without 2 wheel drive. See my listing here in hacks and Flea Market. I am only asking about 1/2 the price of a new bike.
