Just started Colin McRae Dirt 2 on the PS3.

Although Colin is probably turning in his grave at how they have stuck his WRC name on this menagerie of short circuits and yankee stadium X bollocks, I have to say that the graphics and driving are amazing..

When you get in the zone it just comes together.

Hell yes. Most excellent. The subtleties of the cornering characteristics with different vehicles, suspensions, tires, driving surfaces is awesome. I just wish you could take off through the desert and F the race courses.

It would be really cool if you could squish spectators too...but I've tried I tell ya and they are invincible!

+1 The track dynamics are excellent.. you slide on mud, drift on gravel, and it pulls in sand, and the cars/sound is amazing.

Some of the jumps are amazing, especially if you are drifting on your approach. I'm holding my breath

oh yeah, dc was easily the MOST fun I had with a mod - aside from when tfc was first released for the original half-life - dc was so crazy though, loved the air vehicle mayhem

on ps3 right now I'm playing gow3 and just started in on bioshock 2 (gamefly rental) - played the first bioshock on pc when it was new

You guys playing with a wheel or controller?

I got a wheel for xmas and it's like learning to drive again. It's taking me awhile to get my speed back because I play it infrequently, maybe once every 2 weeks, but the experience is so much better.

The game needs more (and longer) rally stages and more vintage rally cars.

I'm not looking at DiRT2 as a WRC sim, because it isn't, despite the Colin McRae link. It may have been hijacked by the Yanks but the various formats and race styles are an interesting departure IMO.

Instead I'm enjoying it for what it is.. a brilliantly rendered fast frame rate off road hoot. If you are fast on this thing two minutes a run is about as long as I can hold my breath before I start to suffocate anyway

I'm playing it on a 720p plasma and it is just gorgeous. Even the wife watches, and she hates video games.

I'm only just starting so my vote is out on the length and number of the rally stages.
