I could definitely see myself going back for another trip through the game. I'm playing as a typical Nord heavy armor tank this round. I might go back as an dark elf thief/mage next time.

I just got Skyrim and I am maybe five hours in. It reminds me of Fallout3, one of my favorites. I am having a good time, but I don't know what the hell I'm doing. There is so much stuff I haven't even begun to experiement with (smithing, alchemy, etc.). I'm playing as a wood elf because I wanted to start with strong archery, but I really should have been a nord since melee combat seems the norm.

I started as a female nord, my son is playing as a wood elf I think. I think it is cool how the game know your gender and it seems to take you in different way for your race.

My son was telling me that there is one place the black charecter can not go and are not welcome....has anyone else seen this?

OK...never been a fan of RPG games where you "take turns to attack" and deplete the opponents hit points before he depletes yours. I always thought that was stupid. Just standing there waiting for the enemy to hit you after you hit them....

Is Skyrim like this or is it actually fun in battles/fighting? I usually like 1st person shooters and games like Zelda where the fighting is much more interactive.

Skyrim is not turn based combat, but it's not twitch gaming either. During a battle, the game will pause when you bring up a menu to switch weapons or drink a healing potion or the like....but then it's back to real time hack and slash.

I'm a 42 Archery/Sniper/Conjuration/Destruction Wood Elf that's never picked up a sword....ever.

I am, however, fkn surgical with my bow. The archery mechanics of this game are some of the best I've seen in ANY game, ever.

It helps that I wear full Ebony armor, however.

I'm level 42 Woodelf. 100 smithing and around 85 enchanting, two handed and archery.

I've got 2 enchantments on my ebony armor, gauntlets, boots, helmet, ring and amulet. (2handed and archery for gauntlets, helmet, ring and necklace, plus stamina+regen for the boots and health+regen for the armor)

my legendary ebony bow does something like 21x Damage right now. similar w. two handed legendary ebony greatsword / warhammer.

It's out of charges. You need to charge it with a soul gem. When you delve (view) it, look at the bar under the item, if it's black, it's empty. When viewing the item, hit "T" and pick a soul gem to recharge the item. You need to do this periodically with your minions too as they will use up charges as well...I usually have them carry a staff of chain lightening and one of fireball that they blow through pretty quick....to dramatic effect.
