Pretty much, though the price of games hasn't really gone up with inflation so I can understand why companies are doing this sort of thing.

Plus anyone who buys anything made or touched by Electronic Arts deserves to be nickeled and dimed to death; that company is beyond toxic.

What really grinds my gears is the quality of games these days. Numerous unpatched bugs in the new X-Com for example completely ruin the experience of playing at a challenging mode; but that's probably more of an effect of crappy programmers coming out of schools these days, but don't get me started on that diatribe.

Me and my friend talked about that during lunch on Sunday. Way beyond messed up and the new norm.

Me and the wife play Rift. Way beack when you had to buy Rift and pay your monthly fee. You got 6 character slots per server and each got 5 bag slots.

Game went free to play and you get 2 character slots per server and two bag slots. Want more bag slots slots you buy them per character. Character slot extensions are at least across all servers.

One guy went and figured out how much more you pay to start now and get what you would have for the boxed game vs when it was buy the game and it is outrageous.

I know a few people who have had issues. Just to put it in perspective most of my data is backed up to a 2nd HD which does a constant one. Then every week or so I backup the files to another one not attached to the computer, and finally optical media on top of that.

That's for work so I'm a little crazy but I'd like to at least have some sort of backup beyond the flash. Maybe I'll just buy a multi-pack of 32GB drives next time they're on sale and copy the files to 2 of them.

For all the PS3 owners on the board, Namco Bandai is bringing over this spring a collection of four animated shorts and a sidescrolling platformer in a bundle called Short Peace:

Take-Two Interactive have produced their 2013 report. Highest performers: Grand Theft Auto V - 32.5 million shipped; Borderlands 2 - 8.5 million shipped; NBA 2K14 - 5 million shipped.

GTAV climbed to 6th position in the best-selling video games list.

But I'll bet you know of more people with hard drive problems.

I do have a couple of Sandisk 32GB sitting in the firesafe. Nothing's 100% certain but they'll probably last longer than I will at this point.

New Humble Bundle is out for those who don't subscribe to the newsletter. Civ 5 is this weeks game. For the first time I have ever seen they have a $15 option that nets you the Brave New World DLC, along with all of the other DLCs, which is normally 29.99.

On that note, does anyone know if you can somehow split up those large single click redeem keys for steam? I already have all of the Overlord games and don't want to waste the keys having it tell me I own them already.

That is a recent change to prevent gifting away the extras everyone is getting from HB :/

But...that's the point...

Am I wrong in assuming that was Steam's idea?

I just received an email from Aspyr telling me that I can buy the complete CivV with all the expansions for just $49.99! Yay!

Oh, wait, I already bought the whole shebang (plus CivIV, CivIII, etc.) for half that on HB not three hours ago.

Feb 25th, new Thief , told myself I'd wait for a while, but then I see you get a extra bank mission that pays homage to "Thief The Metal Age" if you pre-order. The 1st two Thief games are probably my all time favorites, love the stealth play, and I could use a break from BL2.

Then I've got 3 days to finish it.

I am starting my new job on the 1st.
