Correct, he did. I've had one of the Touratech rally bash guards on it for a few year and finally did not really see the need to have the sub frame on there other than for the crappy kickstand. A buddy is welding up some new foot peg brackets incorporating the kickstand like the TT Rally bikes. Pics to come

Bash plate bolted to main frame with no sub frame under it:



I did have to relocate the horn, but that took about an hour, some wire, couple of connectors, some solder, and heat shrink tube.

Me too Tomatoe- Nice out of the way place. TE650 puts it down on the side now too but on the right side. Found an out of the way place on mine on the left.

It WAS sexy. Just could never get enough light out of the LEDs for night riding.... and the weld that held the frame broke, so I took it all off.

Anyone here has a set of HDB handguards with the integrated mirrors mounted on their Dakar?
If so could you post a picture of them?

Sucks, the setup really looked nice. I plan on repainting my GS this winter and your bike has inspired me.

I've tried all the LEDs etc. and finally I have a light that puts out. It's blinding as is and I will next add the HID.

Pretty sure it's just the hot air from the fan you're feeling. I have the exact same thing happening, and its been like that for 10 years so I wouldn't worry. Untill the water temp lights comes on - then it's time to investigate preoperly right away to avoid long term overheating issues. Just a friendly tip.

Even after all my overheating issues, I'm a firm believer in the warning light. If it's not broke dont fix it.

I've never bothered with a hose to bleed it. The few drops that come out is easy to just hose off afterwards anyway, but I usually never even think about. It's not like litre upon litre will flow out of there.

FYI, when I snapped the rear bottom frame bolt (the long one that goes throught the sub frame piece and the engine between the pegs), the bike felt like riding an overcooked piece of spaghetti. Was not a pleasant feeling.

Most definitely. Pressure washer after long rides.


I even had notmybikemodelname pee through the fins to unclog it on the trail. He always offers that service and also filled up my cooling reservoir.

Thanks GS. Yeah, I checked everything and all checks out. It just "feels" hotter than I remember.
