I bought one for the xr400. Apparently the butterfly is the same on the 600 and 650's. The standard has two holes in the plate right across where the pin sits to swivel the butterfly plate, causing fatigue. The Ballards plate has no holes, no weak points. Ballards run a special purchase, buy the choke plate and get the CDI protector plate too, for $29 all up.

I bought one about a month ago and I'm liking it more each time I ride.
2005 with 8,000k's and a few goodies thrown in for $5,500, so there about.

Apparantly it's nothing to worry about..........mine has the stock plastic bashplate. Changed the carb for a 40mm FCR. Has changed the bike profoundly. I had to machine an adapter and massage the tank, but it's the best $250 i could spend on the bike. Also added a 16l tank and i'll put an alloy bashplate and sort the bars a bit better. I've done about 500km on mine, about one third proper trails, a third windy mountain roads and a third hwy. Sounds as though we need a Vic pig ride :) af300e screwed with this post 06-03-2009 at 05:25 AM |
