lol yeah.

I try to remember that when I'm pushing around my heavy ass hardtail mountain bike. Then I bail off of a 9 foot drop and plow over a couple logs that put themselves in the way and its all better.

I'm already forming a parts list to put my bike on a diet, but realistically, 24-25lbs is about as light as that thing is going to get, mainly because I refuse to pay weight weenie prices

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. Hell, some of the places I’ve been there weren’t even roads!

It depends a lot on how far 'around town' is. When I was bike commuting 11 miles each way, clipless made sense. But at that distance it also made sense for me wear bike-specific clothing, get panniers, and carry a change of clothing for when I reached the office.

Now my commute is about 2 miles, and my errands are rarely more than 5, round-trip. So I have flats on the errand/commute bike, and wear the same clothes, including sneakers, I'd wear just walking around. It's nice having a bike I can just grab-and-go, the same way that I wouldn't get into special clothes or shoes to drive someplace.

My recreational bikes are still all clipless, though.

Shimano Ultegra ?

Hopefully this is an appropriate spot for this:

Stupidly, I assumed my hubs used sealed bearings, they do not...

Does anybody know the spec for these bearings and/or where I can find it?

Front has 10 per side, rear has 9 (larger), cups & races look and feel good, seals are fine.

(Info I have found confirms they change from year to year and that these hubs are famously undergreased and overtightened from the factory-not much help!)
