Yep, same experience here.

But then again, I've run car tires on the back, tubeless with tubes, tube type with-out tubes, fronts on the rear and rears on the front. The atmosphere has yet lit afire, no nuns have died and believe it or not, no kittens maimed.

Much to the chagrin on all those Chicken Littles out there!

It amazing what you can do when you just say"ya sounds crazy but I'm gonna try it anyway"alot of times it works and when it doesn't,look at all ya learned.I often tell convention to step aside. But I do love my 705's,the new rear 1 looks so good.

Ya when Im out in the middle of nowhere with a flat and it's getting dark I often think"why didn't I call so and so to come ride with me?"instead of just going it alone, survived so far!

Nice to have her with you,but it's nice by yourself too, makes it easier to sit at a intersection for a hour and try to figure out which direction to head instead of" no lets go that way"I hope that made sense? Its a solo touring thought.

Got the 705s, spooned them on last night. Radials front and rear, 42psi max on the sidewalls, started with the bike's recommended 36psi front and rear. Weird so far, my old tires were pure street (don't recall what brand) and the rear was almost to the cords in the center. 705s are much heavier feeling and round, so the turn-in is totally different. A little rumble at about 15mph, and a kind of a howl at 45mph. Otherwise quiet and well behaved for the little time I have on them. Dirt/gravel roads are a million times better than before.
Edit: The size difference between the old and new tires is enough to add a 2mph difference to the speedo, which I had previously put dead nuts accurate with the speedohealer.

40lbs on both ends make the KLR feel good on the freeway

40! You must have some really smooth highways over there.

I can't stand more than 24f/26r on the seal.

I guess they must be smooth, the 40 lbs is only on the freeway at 70 mph, otherwise 30 lbs or less works,it's a KLR it's rough on a good day.

Im on my 2nd 705 on the rear of my 2011 GS650.......and I used a tube type tire both times (only option in that size).

Not only that I got a nail it in, took it off, patched it and kept using it for another 3K miles.

.....tube type tire.....patched at that.....Im hard core.

Any rate....today I swapped it out.

The old tire had 9023 miles on it.....thats alot of miles on the cheap.

Here are some pics of it today when I took it off.

9023 miles on a G650GS.....last 4k where highway on a long trip......first 5k where mostly two lane highway but some gravel/dirt roads and trails. Id say 95 street and 5 offroad.

The front looks like 80% still......I have no doubt the front will last thru 3 rears easy.

Never once had a problem with this tire, performed great.....sticks well on the wet and works fine for the limited off road my girlfriend does on this bike........and I can go thru 3 sets for what 1 set of Tourances cost.

I have almost 10000 miles on my front, rears still going about 3000 to 6000,mileage seems to vary but for the price Im happy and it's probably a good Idea to have the rear wheel off once in a while to check the bits an pieces inside.funny I have a friend who just put heindau K60's on,nice tire but really spendy, the 705's are my tire of choice but I caught myself looking at a cheaper 244 the other day and remembered that's the way your suppose to shop when it's for a KLR,probably gonna stick with the 705.

After looking at that pic of your tire (flat in the middle and whiskers on the sides) I almost posted "I see you live in Iowa too" then I looked at your location and...you really do.
