Just googling my problems with the KTM 50 brings up hundreds of problem threads, I really had no idea they were that problematic. This post I copied is hilarious! Apparently this Dad had had his share of working on them, I havent dove into the clutch just yet..since the bike doesnt run! Apparently you have to stack washers and it makes the clutch engage at diferent rpm. The symbols he posts (())// are the different wsher stacks....I cant wait to get into that!

"I'll second Jason's vote but flip the order: Stator then coil. Heck we even had a rotor go bad, how a spinning magnet can go bonkers is beyond me, but a handful of others have claimed the same, so I know I wasn't drinking at the time.

Stacking clutches weekly caused me to drink: (()) (()) (() // ... to .653. Two + years removed from that nonsense and I still remember it like yesterday. Maybe I'll have the bride engrave that stack on my headstone, I'm sure the aliens will see it and say: "Poor bastard had his son on a KTM 50, let him rest in peace"

you have the mini adventure, or one of the other mini pro jr/sr/etc bikes?

I've got the mini adventure, and the clutch isn't adjustable on it... pisses me off...

it won't ever get on the pipe, and after riding around a bit, the clutch starts to let out earlier and earlier and just bogs the bike down... won't even go up a slight hill with a 6yr old on it.

Pick the bike up off the ground, and if it can get the back tire moving, and get on the pipe, it screams....

Ugh.

I wonder if i can put one of the pro JR/SR clutches in it?

We have the 50 sx pro senior. I thought all the ktm 50 clutches were the same? Pull the cover, get a puller to pull the clutch, then apparently there are some springs and washers in there you can change. And yes if yours is engaging early it isn't going to go anywhere. Hey I have an idea! Ill sell you our ktm!

theres not THAT much to these little bikes... geez.

but yes, the tiny one - the mini adventure - has a 2-arm clutch system, with a couple of tension springs that hold them together... I need stronger springs, or i need to take some weight off the arms...
