New subject

Several of us carry cell phones when riding, for whatever purpose.

Where do you carry the phone while riding? And why there? I've wondered about this. (small mind, easily amused)

If I carry it on my person, I'll have it close by if something happens. But it has a good chance of being damaged in a get off.

If I carry it in the tank bag it would probably survive an accident, but I may not be able to reach it when needed.

What say ye the masses!

Mine is always in the tank bag when I ride. I have the bag wired to supply power to the phone and use MotionX GPS to record the tracks. It sits on a soft cotton towel which is on the bags bottom and I always try to wedge it into place with other tank bag residents.

When I had my low side this spring the phone stayed put and survived fine. I think its the best place for it other than if you became separated from the bike and couldn't get back to it.

I carry my cell phone clipped to my collar right under my ear so I can hear the call about my ship coming in.

I ride slow so if I fall down the phone stays with me. My phone does nothing but be a phone. I have other gadgets for flushing the toilet.... getting lost .... and taking blurry pictures....

My oldest son did that with a CT 70 that had the engine out for some work. Kid rode down the driveway, then pushed it back up. Over and over and over....
