Besides, I can hardly move so you would have to do all the work. Took me an hour to get the jack over, string the air hose, jack her up, and try to find it.

I'm about as useful as back in 96 when My are was strapped to me it took hours to set up for the simplest of things......

But come if you want, you can help supervise the truss erection.

DTV Antenna

I am getting rid of my cable and going to an antenna. I have a small indoor antenna, but it doesn't get all the stations (FOX,KNWA). I understand I need a larger/outdoor multi-directional antenna, but not sure which one to choose. I have done a bit of research and there is a good site (antennaweb.org) that breaks down the signals, they're location, etc. blah , blah.

What I wanna know is any one here in our area using an antenna, what type or brand, etc. I thought maybe one of you FF'ers have already gone through all this trouble and figured out a good set-up.

if all you want is local tv, then radio shack is where you wanna go and dont spend the extra $$$ on the high end antenna..the lower one will work just fine for local..now if you live high on a hill and want to pull in Joplin and Springfield MO, get the high $$$ antenna

basic antenna theory to help you, Dtoad.

google DBi versus DBd

( isotropic / dipole)

these are ratings for 'gain' or how effecient an antenna is, they advertize crap, and you really have to understand to compare apples/apples.

omni directional's obviously will have less 'gain'

you will pretty much need a directional with a rotor to get more stations, and any further than the local stations ( which can be picked up with a an omni)

Great guys. Yeah, I have most of the available channels with the indoor, so I was thinking if I could just get something up higher on the roof, I could probably get the rest that are in the area. I don't really care to pull from as far as Joplin or further, just looking to get the locals in with good reception.

I think I'll try out a roof mounted omni, then move up from there if I need to.
