Unfortunately, we mostly have meat cattle around here. Not many dairy barns. The cattle/horse barns were lightly built and never maintained after all the farmers went to tractors and pickups in the 1950s.

I hate seeing all the dilapidated barns here in The Hills, but the owners didn't need them after thier purpose was gone, and just abandoned them. Most of the ones still standing are so dryrotted and termite-eaten, that they're not really salvageable.

A shame, really.

last summer I travelled through Iowa and marvelled at the wonderful barns up there still in good condition and in daily use.

Here's a great old barn in Boxley that's in danger. Miss Orphea Duty's barn. Someone spent a shite-tonne of money renovating the house a couple years ago, but they've yet to do anything with the barn.. I hope they do:

You guys missed a good bike night! Pretty good turnout and LOTS of items were donated to raffle for the hurt riders family. I bet they made a pretty good sum of money to give them.

Just talked to the the girl I work with. They raised $5000.

EDIT: They're not doing the Jose's on Dickson anymore, but maybe a BBQ/poker run this weekend.
