Hola gents. Mechanics were doig a 400 hour on my aircraft last night and broke a bolt off in the engine. So either somebody from HQ has to come fix it or they swap the engine out. Being Memorial Day who knows. They used a 407 spare and since I am not checked out in the 407 I have the day off making double time while a spare pilot flies my job.

I put in a run at 8 this morning and it was already near 90 on the heat index. Getting real hot here in the afternoons now. Really takes the spunk out of my aircraft, and me too. My next 3 hitches will be like flying in an oven.

Looks like I a good Sassy's turnout.

Later gents.

No riding for me today. Gotta' work a night train. Will be leaving for work in a couple hours.

HOWEVER...

I'm on nights this week... high temps later in the week to be in the SEVENTIES!!! Goals for the week:

* Get the WR's new gearing ordered. (Will do that tomorrow.)
* Get the WR tagged. (Ditto: Tomorrow.)
* Ride some on the cooler mornings, exploring what's left in "my" mountains.

Gotta' be SOME advantages to working nights, right??

Uncanny. That song was popular when I was born (March of '52.)

I remember hearing variations of it in the late 50's.

Night trains sort of suck if you're working the ground (visibility using a RR lantern isn't the greatest). However... some of it's good. Fortunately, I run the engine, so my part of it isn't as dangerous when it's dark as it is for the ground crewman.

Leaving in 45 minutes.

How many of you guys have seen, "The Motorcycle Diaries". I saw it when I was home and loved it. Running from Argentina to North America on a 1939 Norton 500 in 1952. I have the book checked out from the library and am going to reed it this hitch as soon as I finish, "Inferno", the story of the Naval battle(s) around Guadalcanal.

Got me thinking of going back on active duty, seriously. I think of it a bunch. But then I think of the kids moving schools and stand down.

Well the Lc4 might actually live again.
I pondered a while back about engine options, the 640 is not going to happen, so forget about it.
I talked to a guy last night that is swapping in a GSXR engine into his 660 Banshee. He has the engine still and all the accessories, carb, exhaust, cdi etc.
But its got a bad head, they price is right and it would give the KTM something it lacked from the factory.
A smooth reliable engine.
I'm going to go pick it up when I'm off this week.
I've been half heartedly looking for one over the last year.
Yamaha won't bring US they XT660R or the XT660Z so I'll build my own.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Gixxer motors are FAR from reliable.

I'm not using one. They guy with the Raptor is, I'm going with the Yamaha 660 in the LC4.

Just reread my post I can see where you might have thought I was.
Plus Lukasm showed in a thread that the KAwasaki twin 650 would not fit, much less a GSXR.

Eureka Springs, eh?

I'll probably run through Missouri just North of the state line, try to touch the Kansas state line, then drop in. I rode an AMA Dualsport a few years ago out of New Blaine, but it seems we stayed south of I-40.

There's a road up there popular with the bikers, (maybe it has "Pig" in the name?) is it worthy? I prefer the smaller roads. I use Google maps to locate potential roads but thought y'all might narrow it down a little.

Thanks, I'll be lurking...
