AUTUMN OPTIONS:

All fall passenger trains leave from Springdale. The Springdale ticket holders are deboarded at Van Buren to spend the afternoon there. A Van Buren ticket batch of passengers is loaded at Van Buren and taken to Winslow and back. Once back at Van Buren, they are deboarded. The Springdale ticket holders are reloaded and taken back to Springdale. I sometimes am called upon to run one of these trains. If not, doubtful I can make it up to Springdale in time to ride the trip down. Van Buren - Winslow and return would be doable for me. I am unsure as to how many times per week the Fall Foliage trains run. I know the run on the Saturday.

Scenery considerations: Trees typically still have their foliage on, so vista visibility is limited. Also, the water is low, so very little (if any) white water.

WINTER TRAIN:

Typically begins running the second week of January to the last of March. Saturday only. This train runs out of Fort Smith to Winslow and return to Fort Smith. I usually have to run this train. (I'm hoping they'll let me train someone else to share the schedule so I can have some Saturday's off.)

Scenery considerations: Foliage is gone so the vistas can be seen (such as rock formations, etc). White water typically all along the route. Riding a train after (or during) a snow is spectacular.

First thing: Decide what you all want to do. If you chose for an Autumn schedule, decide within a week or so, and once decision is made, I'll enquire as to what you all need to do.

That subject actually came up; I told them that I would spread the word that they had reopened, but that I didn't appreciate be asked to leave their lot if I wasn't going to buy something, even though I had purchased items in their store on previous visits. She said that it is a sore subject with them, especially when large groups stop to use their facilities, disrupting their plumbing, but don't buy anything, which is why they refer people to the one holer. I can understand their dilemma, as they are struggling to stay open; I was their third customer all day.

Mouth I fixed my kink problem, I used stiffer, thicker black hose and smaller more free flowing filters.
I'm going to take the old girl out and climb a long hill tomorrow, and see if it made a difference.

We should be around this weekend, since we won't be going to Doc's.

I'm not quite "in" Oklahoma, we live just off AR 59 South about a quarter of a mile south of AR 412. Technically in Siloam Springs city limits.

One easy pass great for DS or large Adv bike is Haggerman Pass,? on the spelling. If you look on the map it is West of the lakes just out of Leadville headed towards Carbondale area. And if you need to get tires or Orange supplies there is a nice KTM shop in Carbondale. They may even have a coupple used yammies sitting out side.
