Well boys, my adventure for the week has been a 3-day/2-night campout, at the hospital. My wife's same day surgery turned into a lot more but we're finally home. And now that i'm home, I get to go ride my husky before the rain gets here and the grass grows another foot...

Hoping to make Choctaw, provided the little woman is doing well and I don't trade my beemer for a more street worthy street bike. If you know what I mean.

I hate to hear that she had some complications Nate.

Martha and I are at UARK Bowl to see a comedian we've never heard of. Guess we'll see how that turns out.

Won't bore you with the details but suffice it to say, my bill will include 2 surgeons, a private room and 3 days of precious vacation time. At least the couch that I slept on was long enough to stretch out on.

The husky is my riding mower(briggs). I needed to mow before the rain set in.

I was just blathering about my SickFiddy street bike, that I ride off-road.

I do want a new bike though. It's a sickness...

NICE scoot! Yours? Or a 'net pic?

Never owned a Penton 125 Six Day, but almost did. Instead, back in the early '70's I opted for a DKW 125. Like you, I had a TON of fun on it... and I also weighed less than a ton "back then".

Here's my only "back when" pics of my DKW. (Just didn't think to take very many pics then.)

There were three other bikes "back then" that I had a blast owning and riding, they were:

* My '71 Jawa 250 ISDT.
* My '74 Ossa SDR
* My '76 Penton GS250.

Those were all really good bikes for their time.

Nate:

Thoughts and prayers for your wife's complete recovery.

Ride

Rode two up on the Phantom Canyon road, it is in great shape. A few little wash board places but better than last year.

Found another short ride in the Springs area, to Helen Hunt falls. It was windy black top going to the falls, then past the falls nice windy narrow gravel road with a couple tunnels. A fun ride but short.

Hi Arra:

Where's Helen Hunt Falls? What road?

Wife and I will be dual sporting/backpacking into, and overnighting at, Colorado Springs Sunday night. Maybe we can fit in a trip to the falls?

It's on N. Cheyenne rd, not far from Seven Falls (which pumps water to make it flow!!). The road continuing past hunt falls with the two tunnels is more of Gold camp road. Near the top you'll have a choice of going up high drive. It is one way (going north) and joins back up with Gold camp not far from Old Colorado Springs. You'll miss the tunnels, but it is a better (more fun) road. Both very easy rides. You can actually make a loop of them both, only 12 miles.

Hi Val!

Thanks for the input. We'll be coming into Colorado Springs on Gold Camp Road/Old Stage Road... will we go by a sign that will point us the way?

Ah, you'll be coming from Victor, then, really great ride. Actually, Gold Camp ends near the fancy Broadmore Hotel (worth a peak at their lobby and bar!). From there you'll need to hang north (wiggling in neighborhoods a bit). Pemrose, then Mesa will get you there. But, you WILL see lots of signs for Seven Falls. Head toward tgem, and on the way there you'll see N Cheyenne CANYON Dr.
That is Cheyenne Mountain, so lots of roads with that name in them!
