Anybody got experience with Pirelli Scorpion AT 90's? I'm thinking I want something a little more street friendly than full knobbies.

A friend of mine runs 'em on his KLR. He's happy with the overall performance. Good on gravel as long as it's not too loose or deep. Absolutely suck in mud and sand.

IMO, this is pretty much true for all the 80/20, 90/10 tires. There's always a trade off.

I think the rear Scorpion is "ok" for around here, I'd still run a knobby in the front though IMO. My DR had Scorpions on it, the front was lacking traction on gravel.

Doh!!! I was replacing the counter shaft seal on my Strom today and I didn't realize there's a seal retaining plate (should have cleaned up all that caked on dirt and oil! ) which after having such a hard time getting the old one off I should have noticed. Anyway, while trying to get the new one on I managed to not only screw up the new seal but also jacked up the plate. So now I have to wait on parts. Oh well, at least it's only a $15 screw up.

As the old Matt would say, you fu#$%^g dumb A@#! Thats a bummer, I've done stuff like that too. Sounds like you got off cheap!

I still remember like yesterday changing the power steering pump on my Jeep. I was pissed and beat the old pump in the driveway, it was mangled. I walked in the parts store and bought a new pump and he handed it to me with no pulley on it, and when I asked he said you gotta use your old pulley off the old pump....whoops!

Dang! You could have took it to the dealership and paid $120 labor to do it and saved that $15....

There are a lot of times it cost me money to do it myself and it cost more than if I had let someone else do it but at least I knew the next time. I hope

Hey for a story I read somewhere -

This guy bought a used motorcycle with very low miles and after buying he said to himself "I really took advantage of that seller, what an astute buyer I am!"

Well he had the bike a few years and really racked up the miles. It was time to sell the bike and he told himself "There are too many miles on this bike to get a good price, I will just turn back the OD so I can get a better deal, what an astute seller I am going to be!"

Well he took apart the speedometer to get at the OD and found a note. The note said "Oh No Not Again".

I've got them on my 950. Best tire I've ever run. Incredible performance offroad, equivalent to a DOT knobbie IMHO, and they are quiet and sticky on road. Plus they last. I won't run knobbies anymore, no need to.
