everyone will tell you to " get a FLUKE!"
fluke meters are great.
they are slightly more accurate, 1000 times more expensive, and just like the $20 meter, if you try and measure the wrong thing, you just ruined the meter.

swing in here sometime, Ill show you the basics , and a few funny things about my own cheap meter... like the melted ends, when I had it set to measure DC voltage and stuck into a wall outlet.

I'd like a tutorial on checking continuity. I have a decent multimeter and have yet to figure out how to do that.

My Fluke is 27 years old and seen pretty heavy use when I was a plant engineer. Still going strong. Much better protected than the cheap ones. Seen them take a lot of abuse and still survive.

Really easy to do. Many mm's have a specific setting that gives you a tone when you have continuity.

An uninterrupted succession or flow; a coherent whole. Oops, you mean the other kind.

set the meter to the setting that looks like a speaker or a bell, touch the probes together.

Continuity = beep.

Awesome deal, but a little impractical for working on a bike. I've got the handheld version a 8020A

It looked to be missing the tet leads, and who knows if it works or not.
i passed it up, maybe I shouldnt have.

anything precise that I need I do at work anyway, where there are good meters, better lighting, a solder suckit, and a weller.

Heck, for $15 I'd take the chance. If it worked, I'd put it up on Ebay and sell it for $100.
