Whats the real deal with these F800GS recalls??

Not necessarily on 2009 MODEL YEAR F800GS's. Remember that MODEL YEAR and whether it's an F650GS or and F800GS matters.

Interesting, there must be a limited number of 2009 MODEL YEARS with this rear sprocket issue. Also, it's good info to know that BMW is capable of singling out a problem with even 1 VIN with their bulletin network and mailings.

Example: They know 10 2009 MODEL YEAR F800GS's left the factory with an issue. They could put out a bulletin or send out a mailing to just those ten owners.

Forget model year, forget 10th digit. The only meaningful indicator of an applicable recall or campaign is the result of a service history VIN inquiry from your dealer, or a letter directly from BMW in the case of a recall.

Darken the door at you dealer's service department occasionally and you will receive the improvements BMW develops for its customer's bikes.

I called to make an appointment to get my Chain Sprocket fasteners recall taken care of and was told there were 2 others. Replace radiator hose and reroute ABS sensor.

My VIN shows it is an 09. It is currently at dealer for 600 oil/filter and they replaced the front axle and radiator hose at the same time. My bike came up with those recalls. I have the original manufacturing info and it says my bike was made 9/20/08. It didn't get to the dealer until mid Nov when I took ownership the day it rolled off the truck.
