Nope. Looks like someone got it tonight anyway...

I apologize ahead of time for the length of this post; it was a beautiful day & I had a new camera to test out. And apparently I needed some helmet time: 6hrs/200mi wandering back roads. Sometimes the best days are spent doing something completely pointless (like a grown man chasing a rubber alligator across 4 counties).

Moving on, Rock Hill Mill Rd was freshly grated (I-passed-the-grater freshly grated) and was, shall we say, exciting w/ the road tires currently on the ADVhawk.

A bit further on I passed...um, maybe the Shire?:


I found a lot of dirt by happenstance today. Much more than when I go out & try to find it on purpose. I'll be adding it to mnd's Dirt Map in tomorrow.

This was all dirt except the 100' by this creek.




Now, onto the new Tag!:

I decided to bring back the spooky October theme even though we're 70% of the way through the month. Maybe we can keep it up through Halloween anyway. I tried to find 2 or 3 of those small family cemeteries that are usually in the woods or in some field, but struck out on all of them with either a closed gate or complete lack of any headstones. So I moved on to something a bit bigger:



Still a really small cemetery, but at least someone had hit half of it w/ a mower recently...

The only thing I had to chase out of there to get him in the crack was a monster spider. Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be gone before you get there.

I absolutely recommend a night run for this one: the area is beautifully out in the open, there's no gate on the cemetery, and there's not a lot of houses around (no one to call the cops on you ). Grab your tri-pod & bring us back some LE's!

That damn last name is way more common than I thought, so BONUS CLUE: the road name might have something to with the headstone in question.

I dug around on Google looking for property records or some other identifying document but didn't come up with anything.

Sure would like a better tag name than "Deserted Building."

Someone make something up that sounds cool. We can start a rumor about it.

My guess is that it was probably built for farm use/small scale production of some kind and the properties were maybe split up at some point. I didn't go poking around behind it at all.

Note: It's a soft, sloped shoulder with a steep hill to the right. Pretty much the only place to park is where I am in the shot. Not sure I would want to take a big street bike there. So if you'd like an alternative grab photo, you could do it from the the road (of the same name) that you can make out in the upper left of the photo.
