Northern VA Tag-o-rama! - Page 153

Today was a pretty good day to test my (meager) rain gear. It was cool, but not so cold I would be miserable if I got wet (which I did).

Olympia Patton Jacket - Satisfied. Water got in, but only in spots where I didn't fully zip/close. A little at the neck and a little between the jacket and pants.

FroggToggs pants (didn't need the jacket) - Satisfied. Cheap and held up against the rain. Against the exhaust? Not so much. The bottoms kept riding up above my hiking boots exposing my ankles. I need to find a way to keep them low or get taller boots.

Columbia "waterproof" boots: My feet were soaked and it wasn't just from the top of the boot. I think I now have an excuse to buy some proper riding boots

. If it would have been colder today, I would have been miserable.

Firstgear Winter Gloves: dry and warm - no problems.

Now I just need to go boot shopping (and repair some FroggTogg pants).

My guess is that it was probably built for farm use/small scale production of some kind and the properties were maybe split up at some point. I didn't go poking around behind it at all.

Yep - I was thinking along those same lines - like alligator clips attached on each side and a strap under my heal.

But new boots just seem so much cooler

New boots that go higher (ie: cover the shin) would be much safer too.

Grab! (Wilson Rd., just east of Dudie Rd.)

There was indeed, no other place to park and I'm positive I plowed a huge furrow getting back on the road.

Just as I was getting ready to start up after taking pics a hot woman in a Lexus pulled up. She was there to take a picture of the sign too!

New tag will have to wait for tomorrow as I missed a turn and got caught by sundown. I also snagged the VA tag so I'll be pairing them up.

When I was getting back on the bike and leaning the bike over with my wee little legs to get the kickstand up, there was quite the pucker factor with the slope to the right. If I would have dropped it to the right I never would have gotten it back up.

With the improved weather tomorrow, maybe Bruces will be back in season. At the very least, maybe the NoVA TOR will stay on the first page of the forum.

Yea, I was worried about getting it on the side stand as the bank went up in that direction. I had to lean it right to get the stand down and then I leaned it left letting the stand squish into the soft mud. It stopped at about the right position which had it dug in 4-5 inches!

Gator is behind the left hand sign post.

Remember, check the VA ToR game as both tags are together (for now.)
