That was my only guess...

Since it's going to be nice tomorrow, I'll try to come up with a clue or two... Hang on.

Clue: OK. Open the map so nicely provided by mnd and see where all the damn power lines converge on the shores of the Potomac. Once you're in the vicinity, a quick flip to the satellite view should make the power plant & the LPG facility fairly evident.

And if that doesn't spell it out: The Tag is the green hi-lighted splotch on that map near where the lines all come together in that area.

(Nav Note: Take the road in that's named after an animal that's really good at being road-kill, even if it's technically spelled wrong on the map. You can't get there from the others, even if Google says you can.)

Yea.

Those are the bits that I fished out of the variator housing vents on the side of the road.

I'll pull it off the trailer and open it up to see what else I can find. I probably need to replace the roller weights while I'm in there.

Annoying as I was looking forward to the ride down Bristow and Joplin. Was a nice day for riding. Not so nice for pushing though.

I'd have given it to you if you'd done the tag with the bike on the trailer. (Or is it the scoot? isn't the CX a shaft-ie?)

Shredded a belt on my 50 on the way to take a test in college. That sucked. Destroyed the replacement shortly thereafter - make sure both sides of your variator are SMOOTH! The slightest divet can lead to premature wear.

CX500 is down with a bad stator. I need to drop the engine and swap the rear case for one with a working stator.

Ouch. I'll be sure to inspect all the surfaces.

I suspect that this is just a case of the original belt reaching its end of life.

Still no grab...

Since the replacement belt for the scooter is a few days (weeks?) out I thought I'd see about tackling my stator swap.

It takes me ~20 minutes to drop the engine, and I figured another 15-30 to swap the rear cover and 20 more minutes to re-hang the engine. I was hopeful I'd be about done when my wife came back and be able to go for a night time test drive/grab.

I ended up spending 45 minutes fighting with the exhaust system before I found the right contortions that allowed it to be removed.

Once the exhaust was removed the engine came out without any trouble.

I'll tackle the remaining work tomorrow. I need to come up with some exhaust tube to repair my left side muffler.

Wow, mnd, helluva job to do in December outside! Gotta suck to be down both bikes...

I think anyone that grabs the tag tomorrow is badass. I'm temped to take up the challenge, but I dropped the darn tag. I might have to go for a short ride anyway, as I haven't been out in the snow yet. I grew up in Buffalo, but didn't start riding until I moved further south...

I think the Colorado guys have the right idea, with the tire studs. Price is a bit steep for the installation tool.
