The end of Russell Branch Parkway next to the Strayer University.

Little history of where I dropped the bear off.

The Broad Run Toll House, located near the junction of present-day VA Route 7 and VA Route 28, was built in 1820 on the old Leesburg Turnpike. A stone bridge crossed Broad Run here, and tolls were collected until 1924. The bridge was in use until 1949, when a new concrete and steel bridge immediately north of the site opened.

Really cool Tag location. I love finding hidden history in the area via this game.

Sorry on the brucing ORX, but it wasn't me.

Well......

Nothing like a little HBS (Hot Bear Snatch) to start off the day…..(did he really say that?????)

So the ride started out cool enough at 9 but by the time I got to Rt. 7 and the eight lanes of Black asphalt with all the SUV’s adding their heat I was wondering what the hell I was doing out there!
But I found Cody, after discovering the road the map shows that leads in right from Rt. 7 is blocked off and so having to go past 28 to find a place to turn around….
The Grab..

Get Me Outta this RLD!!!! I’m a country bear!!!!
OK, ok……

Da Tag..

Several hours later after finding some nice roads, a few gravel included such as frytown road that couldn’t decide if it was going to be gravel or hard pack…. and even though I had Not intended on an extended ride.....a tank of gas and 4some hours later.....

If you know what/who the pot called black and you know one of the main effects of Montezuma’s revenge, then you know the two missing parts of the name of this place…
The big picture

A close up of the marker/plague

love the comment about the flawless retreat! Ha Ha!

This tree here see? Right there in the middle of the pic..

Now you see him

Now you don’t..

That would have been me, at around 10:30AM

I considered wondering around a bit but between the heat, the warning signs coming in about the packs of roaming wild dogs and alligators howling in the creek I didn't linger..

well, OK, mostly cause of the heat.....

I've been accused of hiding our dear buddy Cody in Poison Ivy too . . .

One will just have to be careful on the grab . . . . .

Too Late

Now we know the whole sad story; another proper brucing delivered to the poor Oregon expatriate.

I got out of work a bit early, so decided to explore the tag site. A very interesting place. Parked on the road.

Bruced!! By RM, as it turns out. . . .

A view of the old toll house, from about the same vantage point as the link in the tag. Several additions over the years. Good to know that there's a plan to save the place.

The old bridge location, now a scrap heap next to the new road.

Part of the old rock wall, next to the new retaining wall.

Looking back up the old road. Pretend you're back in the 1920's . . . .

Now pretend you're in the late 1960's . . . . .

Detail of the front of the gates.

It is a pretty cool place. The house that is right up the road looks pretty nice from what you can see. Not sure if anyone looked at the pool but last time I was down there it was full of all kinda of creatures.

So, are you saying this is a duplicate tag?
