New (Temp, I hope) Tag

So I went by the tag site in stealth mode this morning, about 0645 or so.

Looked all around. NoVaRider had the exact, right place. No Ali. Also no evidence of flooding, or woodpile disturbance, just the bark scattered around.

There are houses and townhouses on either side of the powerlines, but I saw nobody when I placed the original tag. The XR's not particularly quiet, and I did ride the powerline road several times to check it out. But even if someone in one of the houses saw me ride the lines, and fool around near the woodpile, I can't see how they would know exactly what I was doing and what I might be placing under a random piece of bark.

Based on those suppositions, I'd guess Ali either got snagged by some critter that smelled food (or something foreign) on her, or another inmate's got her and hasn't posted yet.

If Ali surfaces, let's go back to the 'gator tag. Otherwise, HP2 is ON.

As you can see above, I placed it in a slightly different spot.

And hid it--but geoff2k go it!

Location in relation to original site.

Entrance from the FFX County Parkway, across from the Spartan Trail and Dog Run (love how those sound together . . . . ). Between Lee Chapel and Reservation Drive.

From the south side of the road.

A couple of random, non-tag related gratuitous photos as I continued my bike ride over Burke Lake Dam.

Workable Plan B, ORexpat!

Your analysis of the disappearance seems plausible.

I can't imagine random strollers happened by the tag site and inadvertently discovered Ali, because, "Mad dogs and Englishmen [only] go out in the mid-day sun!"

We await restoration of the [latest] original Ali, or replacement with a reasonable facsimile . . .

I scattered the bark looking for Ali, but my first bruce pic memorialized the tag as I came on it. I took it from the bike, before dismounting.

My bet is a grab that hasn't been posted. With power outages still around, perhaps there are connection issues?

Far more feasible than a non-posted grab, I believe that Ali got hit by lightning and went Godzilla on us. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him rampaging through downtown Fairfax.

My guess is that Ali just took off on vacation. I think he'll be back sooner or later.

The tag

It's good to be back!

This was my original destination:

I did not attempt to get any closer and chose a place nearby due to the security fence, general lack of accessibility and scary signs:

I was however able to get a bit closer to some other nearby water-related structures! The HP2 can be found at the base of this tree:

The tag location is at the corner of a leftward ruminant and George Henry's Mill.

Completely stumped. I'll find it though.

I've found it, but it's getting close to time for evening festivities.
Plus, my power is still out, so I'm trying to avoid the heat.

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the new tag pics?? I can see all the older photos, but the pics for the new tag are just little red Xs.

I seem to recall other inmates having trouble accessing dropbox-hosted images in the past. I've put the images on flickr as well:
