I hadn't intended to Grab. but . . . .

I was at one of the local motorsickle joints in the area that was having a sale today, wondering if they'd have new shoes for the RT, when the Service Manager says "How's the alligator doing? Haven't seen him in a while."

Well, that's all the incentive i needed, since I'd recognized the tag site and deciphered the clues . . . Chapman's nee Beverly's Mill, Thoroughfare Gap just north of I66 at Broad Run.

Obligatory bike shot . . . .

Yup, the gator's still here.

I think he likes the Dubya . . . . or is it the "camo" helmet . . .

The rest of the sign . . . interesting story. Thoroughfare gap, since it commands one of the approaches to Washington was hotly contested during the Civil War . . . .

Ali and I had an interesting conversation. He's been so many places recently, great bistros, wild party places, gotten both history and religion.

"It's amazing what you get to see on a motorsickle." Ali remarked. "I really like riding. Cars move the body, I've been told, but motorsickles move the soul."

"Very profound," I remarked. "And while I agree wholeheartedly with you, you have to recall that a motorcycle is a mechanical device, comes from a factory, and usually involves corporations, both large and small."

"OK" he said. "Where can we go to pay homage to that?"

"I was reminded of just such a spot this morning . . . and though you, or you predecessors, have been to the facility before, I think we can find an exact location that's a bit different, and perhaps more powerful.

So go in this door after you grab Ali. If you grab him outside of business hours, take a photo of you, the gator, and the establishment, and show it to . . . . . .

. . . the Service Manager (who remarked on the gator this morning) or the service writer, this young lady named Lisa.

The money shot . . . .

Before hiding,

and after.

Faraway shot . . .

And 180 degrees from the tag!

I can't speak for what rewards the Service Manager might have for the lucky gator hunter, but do stop in and say hello. Great folks, great mechanics. And some cool motorsickles upstairs!!

Grab at MFI on Prince William Parkway.

Looking back at MFI.

MFI closes at 5 so I didn't go inside. I did talk to Shane. He knows where Ali is going. If you hurry, you can meet me there.

NOVARider met me at MFI. I was surprised that I got her. An hour and fifteen minutes on Sat with an easy location - just lucky she was still there.

New tag in an hour or so.

Leon.

Why did I look at their web site??

Seems they have a used Suzuki GSX1250FA, which is the modern version of my "fancy" bike....and I really want it....I wonder if I could have used Ali to talk them down on the price?

You know it's going to be a Bruce when you go for the grab, 95 is fubared, take back roads, get lost (no gps 'till tomorrow), arrive 45 minutes late only to see an inmate making the grab.

You know the game's gone to an entirely new level when he smiles and hands you an official, personalized, NoVa Tag-o-rama playing card (something like "You've been Bruced courtesy of mriderleon"):

George Brent was the only Roman Catholic in the Virginia House of Burgesses in the Colonial period.

This historic marker commemorates his fortification although the exact location of his fort is unknown.

Ali is at the base of the historic marker.

Hiding under the grass clippings

Better hurry, I got the first PM indicating the location before I started posting pictures.

Leon.

I realized the MFI tag was pretty much a dupe, and an easy tag to grab--glad there was some competition for it!

I confess I do enjoy highlighting businesses that contribute to our sport . . . as I rode south on Prince William Parkway this afternoon, Ali in the tank bag, I stopped briefly at Beemers Uber Alles to say hi to George, who was putting new shoes (Michelin Pilot Road 3's) on Tina's bike.

Everyone knows Tina secretly wants a new GS . . . .

I don't think so, sd!

Modestly, I think I'm capable of a pre-picture grab from the text clues; will check with the tagger!
