My name is Askel, and it's been over 4 days since I skied last. My longest stretch this winter. Damn colds, at least our local weather went to shit so I don't feel too bad about it.
Already have plenty in this season though. Camping out at the Midwest Telefest last weekend: ![]() Catching some of the freestyle competiton action: ![]() Despite the Porkies being filled with pinheads, we still had the backcountry to ourselves: The weekend before, shuffling around my neighborhood: ![]() ![]() And the weekend before that, getting my ass kicked/frozen on the Noquemanon:

Paging Mr. Weber to the snowplay thread...
I love seeing you guys pics, I used to get 60+ days a year in Summit Co. Once had a 10 month ski season, only missed July and August. Pictures are enough for me now, I've lost my taste for cold weather.

Oh yeah! Last Tuesday (2/10) was such a beautiful powder day we had to play hooky from work and go up to Taos.
Knee to thigh-deep powder ALL DAY LONG! ![]() Me on the backside, near chair #4. ![]() My hubby coming down Two Bucks, off the ridge:

Got in a good day at Heavenly yesterday, had some decent powder in the trees.
![]() To bad we had to come back... It is dumping up there now...

Q: How many telemarkers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
![]() A: Four. One to screw it in and three to say, "Nice turns, man." Yeah, it's super low angle but we had one of those weird snow conditions we get here in the Keweenaw that gave us a concrete base which progressed nice and consistently to the couple inches of powder on the surface. Perfect for scaring the bejesus out of me on my lightweight NNN set up in the trees.

It is so nice to live an hour from several Lake Tahoe ski areas.
This year I got a pass at Northstar, it's about all my two bad knees can handle. |

Last weekend: 11 tents, 23 people, good food and bloody death on the ice

I went to Mammoth this weekend. They closed the top of the mountain on Saturday due to high winds so we were stuck on the bottom with 4000 of my closest friends. Bright and sunny, but cooooold.
![]() Sunday was snowy and it seems that most of the folks stayed home to sleep off their V-day hangovers. Same lift. Smaller crowd.

I skied Mountain High in Wrightwood yesterday.
Early on it was very tough - blowing snow, and a foot of fresh, thick, fresh wet snow. It cleared later, and turned out to be just GREAT! |

More dumb tree skiing.
![]() Found a nice little 100 foot veritcal drop with an easy enough slope to ski on my cross country gear with easy trails back up for doing laps. No skins required. Nice view from the top of the hill. Had a little bit of freezing rain the day before, but the trees managed to keep it from hitting the snow. ![]()
