OK, So this is not a stupid thing a stranger says to me at a stop light, but it is pretty stupid:
A few years ago I went in to the local KTM dealer with intentions of buying a new 300EXC. They had a low hour used one that was very well priced, so I took an interest in it. As it was used, it didn't have the tag hanging on the handlebars describing the model (All the new bikes had them). The salesman stood there and tried to convince me that it was a four stroke. I finally had to stoop down and show him the big bulging pipe and non-valve head to convince him. I did buy the bike, as I was able to work an even better deal with him by holding his ignorance over him - he actually was pretty embarrassed. He still works at that dealer, but is now in management.

I was riding from Dallas to Ca. and as I reached the Abilene area I was overtaken by one of those unbelievable southwest thunder storms. So, I pulled into a convenience store/gas station and wandered inside to wait for the rain to pass. While inside the clerk, a woman of about 40, asked where I was going, and I explained that I was from Ca, and had come to Texas to buy the bike. She asked, "how are you going to get it home?" I said " I'm going to ride it" she ways, "but it's raining"
No shit!

Hey Spitfire, do us a favor in the old US of A and move here and run for congress, we need someone with enough balls to speak his mind. If we can have an immigrant muslem for president you should have no problem taking office. Screw Political Correctness. |

I have have tended to speak my mind in all the places I've worked. Strangely, this doesn't get me promoted.
I don't think I could run for president, as my father was a British subject.

Had a guy that I know ask to ride the DRZ the other day, it is not like it is a bomb waiting to go off so I said sure and threw him the keys. He tears down a rural road for about half a mile then comes back and says in dead seriousness "damn you can really feel those bands grab" I assume he is talking about the clutch bands and blow off his statement. Then he drops a bomb on me, "that thing has powerbands installed in it huh?" We were in front of 5-6 people and I just sat there
. From now on it has the red bands cause the blue ones just don't grab enough, also I think I am going to require a short test on internal combustion engine operations before I let someone ride.

I have a 2009 KLR with no stickers and black happy trail bags. it only has 1 day of riding on it, and it's already fun to see people looking at it because they haven't seen anything like it. With 2.5 miles on it at a local machine shop, someone asked-
"is that a BMW?" I love my KLR.
