Actually there's some merit to that. If you KNOW you're going to crash, you can often take some action while you still have choices. A few times I've spun out the rear and low-sided rather than try to be He-Man and "ride it out" to most likely high-side, get tossed into/onto something and be injured.

The co-worker just happened to substitute the word "wreck" for "injury."

A/c???

I was parking at work last week on a day that was predicted to reach 106F. I had ATG on and a lady who'd just gotten off the back of a Harley looked at me and asked, "Air conditioning?" My automatic response was, "Oh yeah!" but she looked dumbfounded and I realized she actually thought my jacket etc. was cooled somehow. Maybe the intercom wires fooled her so she thought it was Ex-NASA. I told her the jacket was just mesh but I did have a temperature control here on the right handlebar. That at least got a smile from the guy who was driving the bike.

That's a great response there.

If this is $1000, then I might skip it.

$500, hell - I'm all about it. (Hey, commuting all year around in south Florida is tough enough)

Problem is that their website's News hasn't been updated since 2010

Left the house this am to make a parts run for some stainless fastners from fastenall, get about half way there and it starts pouring rain,( them big drops and alot of em lol ) get to the store grab my parts and head off again stop at the B.P. for fuel and this guy asked me straight faced if I knew it was raining and that you can't ride a motorcycle in the rain, My reply was that I rode inbetween the rain drops and brought soap with so I could wash myself and the bike in case I got hit a few times. He could not have looked more shocked. Btw just so yall know I was dripping wet drowned rat looking when this accured and the man literly was being serious as I asked the girl at the counter if he said anything about me when I paid for my fuel she said he thought I was nuts as you can't ride a motorcycle in the rain

A twist on this one:

"You look really hot."

"Thanks, but I'm straight." Ride off quickly...

Me- "It's a KTM...Made in Austria"

Him- "A Kawasaki?!"

Sure..Whatever

Guy approaches me on my R80 and states that the bike looks real fast (must be the black with red pins) and asks a) "How fast have I had it up to?" (around 130mph...hah!) and b) "That tank is really big...does it hold like 25 gallons of gas?"...(that one caught me flat footed and I did not have a smart ass comment queued up but i now envision what a 25 gallon airhead tank would look like and what the approx weight of 150+ lbs at full tank would do for handling... and the comment gets dumber)

I've had the "how fast will it go" question a few times.
"Fast enough" is always my reply.

I especially get a kick out of getting that question when I'm on the Ural. It normally comes from some flat billed kid who genuinely thinks it can fly.

I often get the 'what kind of bike is that' question, even if I'm in a shop with gear on, but no bike in sight. It usually comes from the pimply guy whose response to anything I say is gonna be "aww, they're shit! Me bruva's got a..." so my usual response is "a black one", or "an old one"... Nips the caveman conversation in the bud...

Just stopped for lunch on my Bandit 1200S that has nice big black letters spelling "Suzuki" on the side of the tank. Guy walks up and says "Nice Harley!"... had to pause for a moment to allow the brain to reboot, then said "Thanks!" and went into the lunch place.
