Wisconsin...

Pulled in for gas. There is a big Metric Cruiser on the neighboring pump.

I top off the tank and he yells over..."It's about time it warmed up enough to ride huh?" (It's June)

I hadn't removed my helmet so I just nodded. I would have liked to respond with the fact that the only month I haven't ridden in the past year was last February.

they don't know, man.
they really don't...

It's way easier to dress for the cold then for the heat.

Oh, the dumb faces one gets with that reply are a treat, ...
especially on the occasion when you actually, almost literally, see that lightbulb switch on.

Not a question but a comment from someone in a truck.

On the Blue Ridge Parkway, he pulled into the parking lot, behind me. Gets out, ambles over. Looks up & down at my Hi-Viz Aerostich and says, serious as a heart attack...

"You look ridiculous in that suit - I could see you for f*****g miles."

Turns on his heel and walks away.

Had a cop stop me last year while I was practicing my counter-steering on a flat, two-lane road. He stopped me thinking I was drunk (my weaving n' such.) After opening the tool box cover, showing him the innards of my Courier bag and going through the sobriety tests, I thought he was being a bit of a prick. Then handed back my license and asked me, "So what made you think that helmet would go with this bike?"

"Visibility. I want people to see me."

"You sure accomplished your goal; I could follow that thing on Google Earth." (helmet is an EXO-700 Hi-Viz)

He gave me a handshake and a 'gawan, git outa here.' Not a minute later I had to pull over... I was laughing too hard to ride.

"Did it get away from you?"

Was the first thing an Arkansas State Trooper asked me a few days ago after pulling me over for 87 in a 55.

I got asked that once when, without thinking, I took off from a light and ran it up through first and second gears to about 60 mph in a 35 zone - with a CHP car right behind me. Actually they asked me that question twice, using slightly different wording. I told them that the bike did exactly what I meant for it to do. I'm just glad that the front wheel stayed on the ground.

I got off with a warning.

Good call. Admitting loss of control to the LEO could trigger other problems for the rider. Better off admitting a moment of poor decision making.

Bingo. My wife worried a lot when I had a fast Ninja, and generally worried about me riding, but said flat out that she didn't want to change me. After riding as a passenger on and off for the 17 years of our marriage, she decided to get her license. I had to sell one of my 2 bikes to make room for a bike of her choosing, but fair is fair.

The bike I sold was a 600 kickstart dual sport, and she is getting an e-start 350 dual sport. She says I can borrow it whenever I want for trail riding.

Once when I had my corvette, I pulled up to a stoplight next to a clapped - out mustang gt full of teenagers. They started revving and inching forward. They didn't notice the county cop right behind them. So I revved my engine a few times to egg them on.

The light turned green, they took off balls to the wall and the cop had his lights going before they got out of first gear. I just creeped away from the line at a very safe speed and waved at the teens as I went by.

You should have said: it was trying to but I was pulling on the bars as much as I could, especially the right side!
