My Audi allroad is a station wagon. Even though it goes offroad more than 99% of the trucks out there.

However, my wife's Lexus GX470 *is* a truck, NOT a SUV. Locking diffs, transfer case with 4 wheel low range, adjustable suspension, ladder frame. The rest of the world calls it a landcruiser, I call it a surprisingly kick butt vehicle.

no, dipshit, it says YAMAHA right on the side in huge block letters.

I get this one at least once per ride.

I thought Yamaha was Japanese for Ducati.

It wasn't a question, and I was stupid.

I had my son out in the yard playing with the neighbor's XR100, and we ran out of gas. I was geared up as I had come in from a ride earlier, and still had my riding pants on when I hopped in the car to go to the gas station. I'm standing there next to my station wagon filling up the gas can, and this guy walks over to me and says "those are the coolest pants I have ever seen!" I looked up with that 'what?' look on my face, looked down at my pants, and said "uh..... we ran out of gas. ..... For the motorcycles." He repeated that he liked my pants and hopped in his nice car, and I just stood there like an idiot.

Some time later, I realized that it would have been far cool for me to have asked if he rode, too.

Oh, forgot.....

Public service announcement.... If you are a guy, and you are talking to a female rider and you discover that she does her own wrenching, better to say, "wow, not a lot of people can do that" rather than "wow, not a lot of women can do that". We fucking hate that shit, and you are immediately relegated to troglodyte status.

Senior engineers, I'm looking at you....

There are only riders and/or wrenches. It has nothing to do with gender so why would anybody mention it.

If I still had every dollar I spent on motorbikes I would be a richer man but a poorer person.

Both are reasonable and true statements IMO - Not many people do their own wrenching these days, and only a small percentage of those that do (or ever did) are of the fairer sex.

...but I heard ya and will think twice before I open my mouth.

Not a lot of riders wrench on their own bike for sure!

It just freaks me out. I'd rather swap warped head stories than explain my upbringing.
