The Radian is a great sailplane. Many of the guys in my local sailplane club have one, along with much more expensive planes. In many cases the Radian will out-thermal the more expensive planes.

Thermaling, like anything else, takes a little practice but there are some nuances to it. Sometimes its more a matter of weather conditions and where you fly than how good you are. I know guys who can "see" thermals quite well. They'll say "launch your plane right now, in that direction". It's also like fishing. You may cast your line twenty times before you get a nibble, and that's if they're biting and you're in a good spot.

You can basically slope off of anything with the right airplane. A building, a semi truck, a small hill- it doesn't take a dedicated slope to slope.

My brother and a bunch of his R/C Racing pals worked to get their old track back in shape. The local Fox affiliate covered the races 20 years ago, here's their update;

No autoplay vids.

I think I can count on one hand the number of RC buffs I've seen that couldn't use a little walking.

Little mod on my Dominator last night.. Got a 6S balance extension, and a voltmeter with alarm set for 3.6v per cell..

So I can fly-by and see how much juice I have left, or listen for the alarm and know it's time to land. Love these little meters! Five for $10 on ebay!

Did anybody here make it to Joe Nall this year?

I am starting to plan on going next year.

I have not flown much lately, but I did see that Durafly is going to have a new P40....that is a must have.

Anybody doing combat?

Some of us did a group order for CTH Assassins. Seems to be a lot harder to smack into another plane when you are trying to. Lots of fun.

I kitbashed a little on Saturday. Those of you who own the UMX ASK-21 know it isn't a great glider. So, rather than go buy a UMX Radian (probably still will), I talked my buddy into giving me his broken UMX Habu for parts.

Now I have an EDF-powered ASK-21.

Maiden didn't happen due to some pushrod issues but its fixed. Hopefully I can maiden it tomorrow.

Must be part of your super-secret double-naught spy work with your low-level FEMA clearance and (snicker) Texas Security License, yes?

My Ask-21 is a great glider for first 20ft. I was never able to get it to fly.

Yours looks cool.

That looks like it could be fun.

Oh and a tip....if you lighten up on the mountain dew you likely will not need the huggies anymore
