LOL, That is what the conversation is all about, seems we have some people who think they are riding fine, there is no problem with their path of travel or technique. After all why stay in your lane, we all pay taxes on the whole thing, might as well use it all

I have sped. I don't any more. The only time I would cross the double-yellow to pass would be in one of those "abnormal" circumstances where there is a slow-moving vehicle (backhoe) or some such, and I'm absolutely certain that engaging in the manoeuvre won't end up with me being an F150 hood ornament. I think that's an acceptable situation, because usually, the slow-moving vehicle will move over, effectively allowing a pass without using the oncoming lane.

What this "discussion" tells me is that prudence is often missing from motorcycle operation. Example: I came up on a tractor in a 80 km/hr (50mph) zone, as it was approaching a hill crest. I *probably* could have gassed it and got by safely, but I waited until both myself and the tractor ahead crested the hill and I could tell for sure.

As it turns out, no traffic was coming the other way. But prudence suggests that maybe, just maybe, some asshat in a truck is blasting the other way. Or, around here, an ATV at full-tilt boogie illegally using the road or the highway (happens a lot.)

Maybe my motivations are different. But it took me 25 years to find a woman that matches me in every conceivable fashion, and frankly, I think she deserves her husband coming home. *Probably* doesn't cut it.

Actually, if you troll through my posts, you'll find I'm pretty much a safety zealot. I dare you to find me a post on this board (or any other) where I say it's OK to violate the posted speed limit (Basic common-sense passing of a slower-moving vehicle, in accordance to accepted passing protocols, notwithstanding.)

I'd guess they just left the little pull-over area where the camera guy is at. Or they drifted sideways into that lane, does look like the front wheels are pointed to the left

From the perspective of some here, He is doing nothing wrong there is no on coming traffic, so why not cross the lines?

I think that Z4 pic made it's way around some of the BMW forums, and as I recall the guy driving the car got crucified pretty badly. A couple of weeks ago a guy who just got his new 1M Coupe posted a video from the dragon, and was all over the road, including a couple of times having all four wheels on the wrong side of the line. I called him on it and got quite a few snide responses myself before the mods deleted the posts. His viewpoint was that as long as he can see through the corner then no harm, no foul. That's great, provided there's not some guy coming the other way who feels equally entitled to using both lanes. I think a lot of it is an age mentality, and that particular forum has a lot of invincible young guys posting. After they've seen a few bad crashes and been to a few funerals they might figure it out.

It seems to be the same attitude here for some, they use that attitude instead of learning how to ride and improving their skills. They seem to all think they are already better than Rossi.

It does seem like some have grouped making a safe pass on double-yellow along with using both sides of the road in cornering as the same thing, and though technically both are illegal it doesn't mean they're the same.
