No, he wants to ride a bike covered in chrome, with Captain Retard pipes (all for looks, of course) but won't pony up for a transition between his "headers" (headers that go all the way to the rear axle?) and fishtails.

Agreed. The wrap is hiding some shitty welds, I'm sure.

Agreed. Pipe wraps in line with the bitches leg being down, whether the bitch is a he or she is a mystery

So it adds another 1/2HP to the small herd, huh? Guess that makes quite a difference on a % basis.

Breathtaking. This post must have taken you a couple of hours, thinking your way into the head of a fellow traveller. All we know of you, your people, your trials and travels, and I'm still amazed. Thanks again, Gwen.

Are you writing about the bike? Or, about the passenger? I am not sure, which...

The "USMC E9" patch- I don't know what branch those chevrons are from but they aren't E9, they are E8, there would be a 4th lower for E9 and my Marine Corps only issues chevrons in Scarlet/Gold and OD/Khaki.

As for the back and forth about photogs, crashes, helping, etc.; it is fairly common knowledge that cameras shoot a bazillion frames per click when the settings are set to do so and to do it in 2 seconds. My professional photographer friend always shoots that way because "why wouldn't I?". As for making fun of people crashing, failing, etc.; besides being funny (sometimes) someone might actually learn something from the pictures and the comments posted about them. And first aid? Do everyone a favor and go get trained. The ABC's aren't good enough. Don't pretend to know how to help trauma victims if you aren't trained to. Stop traffic, block the road, call 911, all of that can be done almost as quickly as that photog's pics were snapped and while you are approaching the victims. Take charge if you have useful training, key word useful, with practical experience. Just having an EMT or CPR card isn't the same as putting them to use and you honestly can do more damage trying to help, that isn't a myth.

I hate being 'that' guy, but I'll rattle off why I know more about what to do that you do, and that you is the majority of posters in this thread. I'm a combat veteran, a professional firefighter and have crashed my bikes a few times, due to my own error and the errors of others. I've gone back to every wreck scene to learn from it, just like we do at work after fires, wrecks, etc. It is called a critique. Think of it, and this thread, as training to be a better rider, a better responder if needed and a more informed person. None of this makes me a better or worse person than anyone else in this thread, it just makes me better prepared to respond (not react, there is a huge difference in the meaning of those words) to a situation than the average Joe. That is just my advice.

I honestly avoid roads like The Dragon because they are loaded up with photogs and all of the different riders, car clubs, trucks, whatever. I want to go ride, not be seen or sit in traffic or deal with all of the things shown in this thread. I want to have fun on my bikes. There are other good roads out there and I'm not riding them to brag, I'm riding them to ride. So I am looking forward to more pics in the thread, more comments and hopefully less Jesus/China/Frat/Sig/whatever talk.

But it's still slow, still looks like ass, and I'd still rather drive my truck.

To deal to touch screen things (cell phone, texting, GPS) this

I have no problem w/ ATM's w/ gloves on.

I almost never take my key out, when I do I put it in the tank bag unless I'm parking for the night, then the gloves are not an issue.

Earplugs are still diff. w/ gloves but I can deal.

a thoughtful response - thank you

so anyone who chooses different gear than you is a fail?

Please list the appropriate brands and sizes.

While chaps may not be as good in a crash as full racing leathers, they are far better than just a pair of jeans for protection against both weather and asphalt. And yes, I have a pair, mainly because I am older than dirt and we didn't always have the choices in protective apparel that we have now. I can't remember the last time I wore them. I can remember the first time, though. I hit some loose gravel in a curve and the tires slipped toward the outside of the curve. I didn't go down, but I remember thinking "I'm glad I have the chaps on".

ummm, they crash better than no gloves. I guess. I haven't tried them and don't intend to.

Lighten up, everybody. I thought this thread was supposed to be about bad driving / riding on the Dragon - not a politically correct ATGATT Nazi fest.
