So...Mr. smugmug, quietmouth, not-ignorant, non-ass, judgemental skinny little fucker...who did you donate $5 MILLION dollar too?

.
Obviously, the "Cable Guy" thing is a persona. He did a gig here and I was downstairs when he got off his airplane. Honestly, you never would have even recognized him. He was just a guy in jeans and an oxford shirt, with his wife, and (I think) two little girls in tow.

I don't think that the sad part is his end of the deal, but rather that a bunch of idiots see and emulate his character. It's the fact that people will idolize someone for appearing so unrefined and backwards, and not even realize that he is, in fact, ridiculing them that is perfect irony.

But, I even relate to his shows. I am certainly not a hillbilly redneck but he is actually very insightful, relevant and seemingly approachable. Even " in character." I admit to being a little shocked when the previous poster blasted Larry the Cable Guy as if he were responsible for every perceived evil in America. I was like, "okay nancy-boy, what really bothers you."
Did the recent episode of 'Ellen' strike a chord with you regarding "other types of Americans"? You know, ones that didn't (gasp) vote for the black guy?!?!

If someone finds Larry the cable guy "offensive" well, I've got some sour grapes for you my "enlightened" friend, perhaps you need to expose yourself to the rest of the world

But, I digress.
Thank you.
Carry on with your internets.
And more pics of pirates...

If you find the Larry the Cable Guy persona offensive I highly recommend never visiting my home state of SC. At least none of it located more than 10 miles from the coast. Because you will find real life living and breathing embodiments of that persona everywhere.

Honey Boo, Larry the Cable Guy persona, "Reality" shows in general...

If there's one thing I've learned about TV after 20+ years in the business....

It's fake.

There are many reasons how and why.... but the bottom line is.... It's fake.

So go ahead and watch and take it at face value... nothing more. Be entertained but be sure to catch the TV productions the networks really want you to see. The commercials.

I looked at that as well. For an HD that would make the stand very short and inboard. Usually they sweep out far more than that. I concluded it was the shadow of the highway peg on the left 'crash' bar.

I love this thread.

But I am disappointed.

The wife and I were down riding the Dragon back in June on the Harley, and none of you fuckers failed us and threw us under the bus!

Y'all are losing your touch.

Carry on.

Watch the video. Starting at 6:30.

When you think your job SUCKS just have the voice in your head (that sounds like Mike Rowe) repeat these words:

"Bite 'em. Just bite them off."

Thanks for the laughs. Good talk about work, no matter what type of work it is.
