Holy Christ... I reach counter-steering speed in my goddamned DRIVEWAY.

My guess is that he didn't counter-steer, but instead tried to jerk the bars to the right, thus making the bike stand up rather than turn more sharply.

My theory

1. Hamming for the camera, he's not looking where he is going and how fast he is getting there, totally not set up for the curve."

My thoughts, exactly, from photo #1 on.
Also, low-riding & loaded bike = not much lean room when you need it in the twisties.
And as one who has felt the pavement & been laid up for a few months as a result... I also hope the biker is OK. Thankfully, he had some safety gear on!

There can't be much of a riding test to get a licence, where ever these 'road block's' came from. Why go for a ride on a twisty road with lot of traffic, when they should stay on an empty parking lot. Looks like a large portion of these rider's are getting a motorcycle, because it's cool, and all their mate's have one, never mind the fact that you can't ride faster than 30mph without going off the road

Yeah... my long gravel drive has a couple of rutted areas where the best speed is right at the steer-countersteer transition. I'm still a little cautious on those streteches...

Read on the local riders (Jeff) thread, and I wish him well, that the guy that hit the Vette, only hurt his wrist and forearm.

The dude that hit the FLUID had the laundry list of injuries ???? See, proof there is no God. The Vettestriker should have got fucked up, not some random dude.

You are correct. The US has pitiful test requirements to get a license. Whether it be for motorcycles or cars, the basic requirement is to be breathing. Not much more required after that. Hell, most states don't even require drivers education in high school anymore.

Our local schools use a contractor to do driver ed. They use the school's driving layout and also do the state road test.

40 question written test and $15. You can go out and buy a Hayabusa after that in Ontario.

You're assuming he had a licence..
Most that haven't been riding very long only have a permit after passing a simple written test.
