See how the rider is actually leaning upright? He seems to have shifted his ass towards the inside, then is countering that lean by moving upright. That's a cool way to drag hard parts by forcing the bike over, but the bike and rider could handle the turn more quickly if he drove his left elbow down (and his riding position would follow). Then he would have less bike lean with more weight inside and able to carry more speed with less lean and less chance of levering the rear tire off the pavement.

In order for your illustration to work, the rider would have to be heading perpendicular to the camera. It's at a bit of an angle, so you need to draw a line parallel to the the lean angle of the bike at the rider's position - not at the back of the bike. More like this:



You can see that his head is still right on line with the bike and most of his weight is shifted to the inside. I don't see much of a fail here.

Seriously now: looks like fun, but FWI've seen of the Dragon, I doubt I'd ride a bicycle there. (and if it is what I think it is: Calfee its a VERY expensive tandem. Like in the $10-12k range)

I think he meant the right boot appears to be touching the tire but if anything it mostly likely would be the swing arm. If I do that I melt a boot. Learnt from experience.
